Good luck with ST sales now. **** the club.
Me and my 2 sons are out. I know it’s emotions at the moment but this is a colossal **** up. I’d imagine Spors and Tonda will be gone and Dragan now has to look to sell. Has made me really doubt my love for football and this club under the is ownership. One embarrassment to another and it gets worse each time

The problem the EFL now has is that they let two games be played in-between, which Middlesbrough lost. I imagine that will be a case for a legal challenge from Southampton arguing Middlesbrough can't get a bye through because they lost "fairly" over two games. The EFL, as they always do, have messed this up as well.

Fans should be compensated and refunded for the semis as they meant nothing. EFL should foot the bill as they are the ones that allowed them to go ahead

Not their fault they did this tbf, how were they to know. They can be bashed over multiple things but unless more comes out I don't really agree...
The fact they fessed up to surely means the club knows who is responsible for spying and who sanctioned it. I am sure that any disciplinary action will now be implemented and there will be people leaving the club tomorrow. The EPL is not finished with this and further sanctions against individuals will take place.

I think the interesting thing will be how the club deals with reimbursements and how the penalty manifests itself with the prices for the next season ticket. A refund for the semi final tickets would be a good place to start but the club will have to have a hard look at itself .

We are essentially being given a potential £200 million fine for filming some training sessions. It would be one of the biggest punishments in footballing history. I don't care if they sack Tonda and the staff tomorrow and we play at Wembley with the cleaner in charge, the punishment isn't proportional.
Possibly not proportional but I'd be biased anyway on that as it's my club impacted, but we broke a known rule multiple times across a period of time and against multiple parties. That in itself shows a pattern even without other evidence.

Without a pre-defined set of punishments the EFL had the full range of punishments available to them and they chose to make an example. We can appeal but I can't see it how we'd change their minds without new evidence to give.

Right now I'd rather the club tried to start setting things right and get on with preparing for the summer and next season than try to argue a lessor punishment that in the grand scheme of things won't change that fact we did it.

I feel for the players in this one as all that emotion and effort over the last months has been undercut by this. That will hurt.

You can’t be serious? They won’t sell if someone doesn’t pay more. Or are extremely unlikely to. This is big money we are talking about here
Of course I’m serious. Some times business people know when to cut loose.

What happens if players can walk away from contracts that couple have been broken over us failing to uphold our side of the contract by cheating?

Even if they doesn’t happen, how many of our players will stay?

Sometime people take what they can get.

I'm sure their argument would be they didn't lose fairly because we cheated?

So embarrassing. Do you think the players knew? If so, I can't imagine how they feel. Heads need to roll. It's going to take a long time to get over this. How many more clubs have we spied on and not admitted to?

An Independent Disciplinary Commission has today expelled Southampton from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after the Club admitted to multiple breaches of EFL Regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other Clubs’ training.

In addition, the Club has received a four-point deduction that will be applied to the 2026/27 Championship table, alongside a reprimand in respect of all the charges.

The effect of today’s order is that Middlesbrough are reinstated into the 2026 Play-Offs and will proceed to the Play-Off Final against Hull City. The final remains scheduled for Saturday 23 May, with the kick-off time to be confirmed.

Southampton was first charged on Friday 8 May, with further charges issued on Sunday 17 May in relation to additional breaches during the 2025/26 season. Those additional charges arose from matters identified after the initial proceedings involving Middlesbrough were initiated.

Southampton admitted breaches of Regulations requiring Clubs to act with the utmost good faith and prohibiting the observation of another Club’s training session within 72 hours of a scheduled match. The admitted breaches concern fixtures against Oxford United in December 2025, Ipswich Town in April 2026 and Middlesbrough in May 2026.

Southampton has a right to appeal the Commission’s decision in accordance with EFL Regulations and the parties are working to try and resolve any appeal on Wednesday 20 May. Subject to the outcome, it could result in a further change to Saturday’s fixture.

The EFL is now in discussion with all three Clubs regarding the implications of today’s decision and will make a further announcement in due course.

The Commission’s full written reasons will also be published in due course.
I'm guessing that just means KO time? Strange that that depends on the outcome of the appeal?

When I raised this falling at SR door, not many on here thought it had anything to do with them.

Now the **** hits the fan the my are rightly called out to sell up, **** off or whatever.

Surely they can’t survive this.

If they don’t want to sell then there’s not much that can happen. Boycotts and hitting them in their pocket is an obvious step the fanbase can take but that’s not going to happen until next season at least, and even then it might not make them sell
