I mean goal keeper is least of the issue at the moment.

Get a defence and midfield in front of him that don’t give up 10 clear cut chances a game and he might be able to keep a few clean sheets.

Oh and remind the players before every game he’s left footed. Even then, his kicking today was again very good and much more accurate in finding players up the pitch b
But he is an issue, even if not the most pressing. He's not even in the class of Mignolet, tbf, let alone in the same ballpark as Ally, Kelleher, and Reina. His only saving grace is that he's not as bad as Karius.

Here is the conundrum, clear and simple: if we qualify for the CL, no matter how spawnily we squeeze through, Slot stays. If we deservedly lose out to Bournemouth or Brighton, we get rid of Slot, but the new manager is hampered by players not wanting to come here, and other players (Szobbo/) wanting out.

Don't get me wrong, having lost out on the league twice in 3 seasons when we had 90+ points, I'd have gladly accepted this summer as the price of winning it last term with a less than overwhelming squad and style of play; nothing can erase the joy of that parade last May. But **** me, this fall has been cataclysmic, and, from that loss at Palace, it was coming, and we all knew it. But that was September, 8 months ago. The manager and the club have done nothing, including in January, to do anything about our style, or, indeed, our woeful fitness.

I think you may be wrong, but nonetheless, what an abysmal end to the season, one way or another. Worst Liverpool team since Hodgson. Dire, turgid, ponderous, ****e. And if we undeservedly scrape into the CL next season, we need to get Kelleher back and shift at least 8 of that first team squad. And the hapless manager.

Ah, well, it'll be over soon. :emoticon-0114-dull:
In a league sport you 'deserve' the position you're in so this doesn't make sense. Don't get me wrong, I completely understand the sentiment behind it which is based on what we've all seen this season. It's remarkable that we are in a CL spot but that's down to every other team's performance as well. The whole league has been dire. We deserve the position we're in.

I daresay Salah is speaking for all Liverpool fans here

"I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions," Salah wrote on social media. "It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.

"Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies.

"That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.

"Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games."

in car listening to R5 pre cup final and they said Chelsea had been out run every game this season apart from us (which they put down to Chelsea having a better attitude that day <doh> ) which says it all really .
The players should be having a good hard look at themselves regarding this season

Slot doesn't come into it as i think he is now toast

And this is precisely why he does not deserve to keep his job, he has learned absolutely nothing and does the same shocking ****e every week.

He still thinks he’s in the pathetic Dutch league where you can just take off a 6 and a defender, throw on some flair and it’ll be fine because the opposition are just crap - we get cut open and humiliated every single time this doughnut does it.

Its diabolical coaching at this standard, it really is

I believe I said this about 2 months ago. He's used to just being in charge of team where you have better players than most of league so 9 times out of 10 you just end up winning just because.

It's why most foreign managers fail in the PL and after succeeding in their home country. PL teams pick up managers from the club that is usually one of the top3 teams in the country, they're used to just being better than the rest. Lets face it nobody is picking the manager from Go Ahead Eagles (despite being 12th in the Dutch league which is probably a good finish for them)

It seems like we did not even consider Alonso. We are left with a clown to manage the team. I am not looking forward to next season. Welcome to the wilderness

The best managers find a way of overcoming any deficiencies. If Klopp had inherited the new players Slot had got this season he still would have made us a formidable team. If may not have won the league but by **** we wouldn’t have lost 20 games this season

Disagree. Mourninho, Guardiola, Klopp, Conte, Ancelotti, Mancini. All foreign managers, succeeded in home countries and move to England and won the prem.

I think this is my biggest issue with slott. He hasn't tried to overcome, he hasn't tried anything.

It's the same idea recycled endlessly all season. It's not ****ing working Arne. Well wait until the summer when we sign yet more players, then you'll see.

When we lost our entire backline, klopp got it wrong, ****ed the midfield in the hope they could cover. It took a while, but he changed and we got better.

Changing doesn't seem to be even remotely on the mind of slott. Just the same week in week out.

If he's hoping we can just splurge in the transfer window every summer, he's going to be sorely disappointed. Not least because even in this league we suck hind tit to a number of clubs. Never mind trying to compete with the Spanish, German and French titans.

We've got to be clever, better, work harder. Something that I fear is well beyond slott

I said most, not all.

Guardiola you can ignore, he's been at 3 clubs two of whom had the resources to dominate their home leagues, the other he had a bunch of generational talents. Not saying he hasn't been a successful coach, but the odds have been stacked in his favour
Klopp proved himself as the upstart who challenged Bayern. Yes Dortmund were better than alot of the teams in the league but weren't the best and had to work to be. Also he'd done the work with Mainz so knew nothing was taken for granted.
Ancelotti had been at alot of clubs before coming to England
Conte had proved himself at lower Italian clubs before going to Juventus.

Mourinho is probably the exception, Porto were the best team in the league and really didn't have to work that hard to win the league at the time. But he did benefit from an explosion in Portuguese football talent. And lets not forget his style of football was dire and has been sacked more times than he's been successful.
