100% this it is really killing the game ref scared to make decisions just relying on VAR to make them for them yes refs make mistakes but VAR make just as manyBin VAR
The thing is, I wonder if it would be any different without var. refs have always been biased to big teams. It’s obvious the decisions which go their way which don’t involve VAR. I hate VAR, but I don’t think that it would have a massive impact on game outcomes personally. Just that it delays the same decisions being made!Dont get why the FA cant get it to work and other Countries have it down to a fcken T,
Possibly because the VAR team are at the ground, so it takes seconds
Hearts have possibly lost the league because of that,
West Ham are almost certain that they are going down now, got that point on Sunday things could look different
VAR favours the big teams, ~
HOW many times has var overlooked certain things for us,
but in other games, the same things has gone to VAR..

I always remember Elf's poor pass to O9 in the manu away match, where O9 had to stretch for the challenge on the manu player. VAR couldn't wait to flag the Red. I've seen a load worse challenges by the big six and no further action taken. Bias and corrupt. Bin VAR.At least when the ref makes it there is the real time excuse, which is valid!
Now we have it being used completely differently to how it was meant to be, if you need a few minutes and multiple angles its not clear and obvious.
Worst thing about it all though including referees on the pitch is the big club bias. How many things against Man Utd weren't looked at for more than 5 seconds because it was a decision that would have been for us but I have no doubt of it was down the other end they would have rewound, moved angles, zoomed in, slowed down and anything else they could do to give them something.
That West Ham goal against Arsenal shows it. You can actually hear them humming and hawing on the video as they try to find a way to dissalow the goal! If you have any doubt it should go with on field decision!
We have had a few decisions and saves by VAR this season but we have also had some that they haven’t even looked for a second and the decisions on the field were clear and obvious! Two that spring to mind are Le Fee wiped out against Brighton i think it was and the handball against Everton, won't get into Ballard one as I think that is down to trying to hammer the hair pull rule more than VAR being completely incompetent!

I disagree. I think it’s an easy call. I cannot see any definitive evidence which categorically says the ball hit his hand, and even less to say it wasn’t an accident! (And can prove with 100% certainty that it was a foul throw!)Yeah, it looked as if that might be the case. You’ve got to use your arms when jumping for a header. The lad did put his up quite high then wasn’t helped by the Celtic player jumping next to him. Would have been a tough call to say no penalty.
There was a worse one in the same game. City away it was not Man U, but the challenge on mukiele was much more dangerous and far more intentional! But VAR left that alone at a yellowI always remember Elf's poor pass to O9 in the manu away match, where O9 had to stretch for the challenge on the manu player. VAR couldn't wait to flag the Red. It's just how I saw it. On the different replays (admittedly on a tablet rather than a tv) the ball has travelled a long way and hits the lad's hand. There is good reason to think it's an accident but the ball travelling so far counts against the defender imo.I disagree. I think it’s an easy call. They are biased without knowing it sometimes. But they are holding back the inevitable IMO.It's just how I saw it. If it's a foul throw then that's a very bad oversight and should overturn the handball. Probably not procedure to do so but, like they do in cricket, they should check it's a fair delivery!
I like the unconscious bias you mention. Similar to West Ham's equaliser against Arsenal where in the back of the minds of the VAR team is the thought 'Bottom 3 side West Ham have equalised against top of the table Arsenal so there is probably a high chance that a foul occurred'. Even if they try to be objective and impartial. They are biased without knowing it sometimes. But they are holding back the inevitable IMO.
Hearts have Tony Bloom, and jamestown analytics with them now. They have also had James Anderson, an extremely wealthy bloke helping them for the last few years, and who got Bloom interested. Everywhere they have been, as we know, the improvement has been exponential, and they have just started at Hearts. Half of the squad was bought using their help last summer, for net buttons, and they are thirty or so points nearer Celtic.
The Old Firm have much bigger revenues, but Hearts will close that gap, by player trading and getting into the ECL. If they don't win it on Saturday, it's coming as sure as night follows day. And Hearts, I think, are still mostly owned by the fans, though someone might know different.
I was reading up about jamestown. They are a secretive lot, for obvious reasons. But they are smart, and when they go in with a club, it's the only one club in that country. Four of them are all doing much, much better than they had been.I like the unconscious bias you mention. Thanks re: Tony Bloom and Jamestown analytics. Good info and insight.
An acceptable outcome could be to replay the second leg on neutral ground.Middlesbrough have issued a statement in which they call for Southampton's expulsion from the Championship play-off final.
Boro will not be permitted to take part in the hearing brought by the EFL over Saints' alleged spying at their Rockliffe Park training ground last Thursday in the build-up to the first leg of their play-off semi-final at the Riverside.
They describe the conduct as going against "sporting integrity and fair competition" and believe that a sporting sanction is the only fair outcome.
Southampton beat Boro in extra-time in the second leg to reach the final on 23 May against Hull City - but that may have to be rescheduled depending on the outcome of this hearing.
More to follow.
From the BBC
Kick them out for me and a points penalty next season - if they are allowed to continue it sends a message out to all other clubs regarding breaking laws. Additionally how long have they been doing this would they have even got into the playoffs without the additional benefits? An acceptable outcome could be to replay the second leg on neutral ground.
Don’t agree with that.An acceptable outcome could be to replay the second leg on neutral ground.
