Jason Salkey - From Crimea, With Love.

A warts and all telling of the making of the Sharpe series of TV films. A lot of things make a lot of sense now...

Watched the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere on the plane back from Delhi and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not a fan of Bruce when he is rocking out but I have enjoyed his acoustic stuff. This is about the making of his fifth album, Nebraska, and where he was in coping with his rising star.
For my money, Jeremy Allen White does for Springsteen what Val Kilmer did for Jim Morrison... create a new found appreciation of the artist.

Excellent production faithful to the book.

Great acting, great direction, great cinematography.
Might give it a try. I remember having to sit through the 60s film at WBGS and being so bored that I fell asleep - much to the annoyance of our Welsh twat of an English teacher.
Another Saturday morning detention that I never turned up for... <laugh>

I read the book at school and I saw the film. Can't say I enjoyed either. I can't abide bullies. Far too often these days cautionary tales are taken as instruction manuals, sadly.

Sally Field, Lewis Pullman (one of Bill Pulman's kids), Colm Meaney.
Netflix.
Absolutely delightful. Crack open a bottle of wine, a big bowl of nibbles, and keep some tissues handy. A real treat.
