There used to be a thriving supporters club based in Palmerston North - I don't know if it's still thriving though - or even if it's still in existence. On my way to the Wellington Phoenix - Western Sydney Wanderers game today, I managed to have a very quick chat with Darren Bazeley, who is now the New Zealand coach. I said, "Hello," and saw the professional look come into his eyes as (I guess) he expected me to say something bland about the world cup, or who to pick for the All Whites. Instead, when I told him that watching him run down the wing at Wembley gave me much pleasure, I got a beaming smile. He apologised for the cross but we agreed that the following corner resulted in one of the best goals Wembley has seen.
He then asked me if I was a Watford fan and confided that there aren't many of us in this part of the world. It seems that he still considers himself a fan.
This was on one of the Watford fan pages FB groups too .You must log in or register to see media
