Yes pleased for Rochdale but heartbreaking for Boreham Wood.

Meanwhile looks like a VAR call had handed Arsenal the league potentially and relegated West Ham.
The only thing surprising about the VAR was how long it took to arrive at the decision.
In the goal area the Keeper is King.
Raya had an arm across his neck and a hand on his arm.
Raya also had his shirt pulled by another opponent.
Were there other fouls going on, committed by the defence? Quite a bit of holding and blocking going on for sure. So...
Did either side gain an unfair advantage? West Ham "scored" so clearly they did and Arsenal didn't.
Absolutely the correct decision to disallow the goal.I
Coaches and pundits really ought to learn the laws before firing off at the lip.

The goal area came about to protect keepers from being barged into the goal with the ball. Nat Lofthouse was pretty good at that sort of thing.

As ever from a set play was quite a mess but keepers do get protected more than anyone else .

Either way someone wasn’t going to be happy and VAR has only added to the controversy and debate .

Something needs to be done about all the shirt pulling, shoving, rugby tackling etc that goes on in the goal area as it really spoils the game. The laws already cater for such offences but refs seem to ignore them - and offenders are really just taking the piss, knowing that very little gets done.

Given that the laws allow for only two players in the penalty area when a penalty kick has been awarded, surely to god something similar could be brought in for the goal area when a corner or free kick has been awarded?

All it needs is for referees to implement the laws properly. They don't and that sticks in my craw.
I guess the problem for them is that they only have two eyes - and can't see everything that goes on during a goalmouth melee. If they could, they'd be dishing out cards right, left and centre. Maybe all would be well if players stopped trying to cheat - or actually learn and adhere to the laws themselves.

Listening to R5Live tonight, apparently these problems do not occur with any such regularity in La Liga or the Bundesliga.
I was horrified how little I knew about the laws until I did the course, and I thought I knew! I had an injury and turned up to watch my teammates, only to be thrown the whistle! I called the captain's together, told them that the centre circle was where I was at and asked them to help me help them have a good game. Enjoyed it more than playing, miles better ref than ever a player.

I remember Anthony Taylor gave two penalties in one game at the start of the season (Sunderland v Brentford) but hardly seen any get given for shirt pulling and bear hugging since .

Apparently Joe Hart thinks that the WHU goal should have stood.
That's the (not a qualified referee) ex Man City, ex Spurs, ex West Ham, player moaning about it.
Absolutely no skin in the game, totally unbiased, opinion.
Like asking Nadim Zahawi to vouch for David Cameron's tax returns...
Didn't realise he had played for the Spuds - but remember him at Celtic, where for three successful seasons he highlighted the rather large gulf between English and Scottish club football.
