What beautiful symmetry there is in this story.

An Iranian, living in Britain, risking his life to save a Jewish man from a racist thug with a knife.

'I was trying to save a life,' says man who intervened in Golders Green attack https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1529vgdvlgo

Yes this man an Iranian/Brit was only concerned with saving a life....it didn't matter to him that it was a Jew.....he was prepared to risk his own life to protect another persons right to live.........heart warming to hear.

The Iranian government are now even more extremist after being at war.....and are now just killing on the streets any form of opposition.

This Iranian/Brit would be dead meat if he ever went to Iran.

Donald Trump having acquired the "so-called" most powerful job in the world.....now surely believes that he is God and the world is subjected to his will or desire.

So Iran who he (Trump) says have been humiliated...there Army smashed....there Navy crushed...there Air Force obliviated....there leadership killed.... seem to now have a more extreme leadership than before......have somehow blocked the Strait of Hormuz from shipping passing through with literally a 100% success.....and had the ability to allow a Russian Oligarch and his super yacht ( worth £500 million) to sale through the strait proving to the rest of the world that they are in charge of what happens and not Trumps America.

Under these circumstances Trump has now said that his military power will escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz under the banner of "Project Freedom" as an "Humanitarian Gesture".

BUT hold on ...this totally crushed State of Iran have the nerve to say.....that they will attack USA forces who try to do such a thing....we mustn't forget that Russia are backing Iran...... and China are watching from a distance....who themselves have long term plans to "recover" Taiwan the old Formosa as part of China.

Is not the clock saying one minute to midnight and WW3 is a lot closer than most of us realize.....maybe the only thing that can save us is the Republican Party in the States getting cold feet in where their President is taking them.....but don't worry folks just look who is in line to take over from him if he is uprooted (good grief is there no end to it)......maybe this is one of those moments when I'm glad that I'm in my eighties and not my twenties.

Are we seeing the slow back door privatisation of the NHS under Labour ?

Mrs Plym depends these days after.... her major chest operation plus her kidney failure illnesses.....which have both been successful.....on six medications to keep her life on an even keel.

We have now arrived at a situation where three regular medications can now only be bought over the counter.....no longer on the NHS prescription list.......which could cost us up to £35 (for all three) a time...... she is of course a pensioner (nearly 84) who lost some of her pension staying at home bringing up our family and not depending on the state to do it.......we can just about afford to do that.....now what happens to those who can't afford it....do they have to get it some other way to stay alive.

Oh FFS.

They’ve got what…. 5 ships out of 1,600 trapped…. and those 5 belonging to countries like Pakistan who are involved in mediation in this doomed affair. Its Operation Glorious Victory one minute and gone tomorrow.

In any event, even if he got all 1,600 out, the tankers have to be able to go back later to collect more oil. That’s a whole different thing.

Trump says the US to pause operation to guide vessels through Strait of Hormuz https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clypekl71gdo

And if it’s a humanitarian mission, which is what he said originally, why not rather more simply fly food, water and other necessities out to the stranded ships on helicopters. I don’t imagine that would have led Iran to launch a barrage of missiles at neighbourhoods countries…..

If it’s a genuine attempt to break the blockade (now failed) just say so. We aren’t stupid you know, we can tell when you’re lying because your mouth is moving.

How does he have the bare-faced cheek to talk such bo**ocks?

I'm just doing my daily browse through the news. Here are three pictures that tell you everything that's gone wrong with local government. Just count the windows. Micro-management needs space to grow.

All that flat roof to keep leak free....nothing better than a sloping roof.....gravity everytime wins.

There’s something going on at Devonport this week.

It’s not HMS Iron Duke which seems to have been laid up early after a very expensive refit.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czj2ednpkp1o

New Type 26 and Type 31 frigates are being built but the first of them won’t enter service until the end of this decade - at best given the MOD’s track record of contract management.

RFA Proteus is in and out every day, which is not just a carrier of stores

together with a Norwegian frigate, Otto Sverdup, a Dutch fleet auxiliary, Den Helder a German corvette, Olsenburg and an unidentified submarine.

There were also a pair of Wildcat helicopters buzzing around yesterday although they may have been en route to Culdrose.

I presume this is some of training exercise involving underwater drones etc.

No British surface ship was available it seems. What an unfortunate time to be short of ships with Donald Trump looming large, erratic and very orange over world peace.

PS I’m not a spy - anyone can subscribe to the QHM’s daily bulletin of shipping movements at Devonport, including Vladimir Putin presumably.

I voted for the first time for I don’t know how long yesterday. She was at home and made me do it even though I don’t feel any party represents me.

I haven’t forgiven the Tories for Brexit and never will. I grew up in a Cornwall which, non-conformist in religion and politics, was a
Liberal stronghold. Since then, the Lib Dems have ceased to be the party of farmers & fishermen and gone far left, particularly on the environmental front. I haven’t seen a sign of Reform although I’ve kept a baseball bat in the porch just in case. I fear for the worst nationally though.

The Lab guy came around just after we’d finished dinner to ask if we’d voted, so they must have thought it was close. It’s crazy if they think they can win this ward. God forbid that Starmer loses his job and we get Angela Rayner instead…….

Firstly, US President Donald Trump says a ceasefire is still in place between the US and Iran after both sides exchanged fire late on Thursday night.

So let’s get that straight in future. There’s a tautology in there too. If fire is “exchanged” then by definition “both” sides fired.

Main reason I’m looking at the news 6:20 though is that the picture is Reform gains and Labour losses. Labour have lost control in Exeter after 14 years although they remain the largest group. Labour remain the largest group in Plymouth but both they and the Conservatives have lost wards to the Fascists Reform.

You can see the demographics there. No big swing to Reform in the university and commercial city of Exeter but a much bigger one in industrial Plymouth.

During the weeks leading up to the election we only had pamphlets from the Torys and Reform......the Tory one was worth a yawn.....but the Reform one was well put together and readable and talking about the subjects that were of concern.....and believe it or not the local candidate knocked on our door twice....ex-militaryman and he didn't look like an ogre and he had only two arms and legs....in fact he came over as ok.....and was very aware of the Borough drowning in illegal migrants and the alarming growth of Vape shops that were selling under the counter illegal smokes and drugs to people of any age....(crime centres).....and in the meanwhile any signs of a Police Force being on our streets where ziltch......things have got to change........amazing how Labour have achieved in two years what the Torys took fourteen years to accomplish......ziltch again.

Bromley Borough start counting at the civilised hour of 9am Friday.

Just picked up on one of the headlines......Plymouth swing towards Reform with big gains....(lucky for Labour that not all seats were up for election).

There was the mention on BBC News that one of the new Reform councillors is Helen Kelly...wife of a former Tory leader of the council.

PS......I doubt if she will be going down the local Tory Club over the weekend for a gin and tonic as they try to drown their sorrows......and I don't expect her husband (if they're still talking) will be popping along with her to Reform for a celebration drink either.

Bromley (London Borough) has been Tory forever....but there have been rumblings of discontent lately.

The old moan about pot-holes seems to have really taken off.........the Borough (especially Orpington) have some amazing pot-holes developing.....some are getting so large that you feel that your driving into it and then out of it the otherside........A few months back they circled them white....I assumed that they had recognized it and would be back in due course to fill it in.......nothing happened......someone suggested that maybe they had marked them white so that the driver could see it in advance.....it was then suggested that it was a pity that they had not marked them with illuminous paint so that we could see them clearly at night.

The other bone of contention is the none cutting of many grass edges/borders.....the council say that this is an environmental move to bring more wild area's so that insects etc can live and feed on it.......BALDERDASH....it is done because it means that they dont have to pay a contractor to cut it.....Those living next to an environmentally re-claimed area (edges/border) have to deal with the thousands of Dandelion "parachute" seeds that passing traffic blow into their gardens......Mrs Plym has been at war for years regarding Dandelions......of course there are many other seeds from "weeds" that blow also into "manicured" gardens.................the Council just need to be truthful why they don't cut these edges/borders.

Of course all other political parties tell you that pot-holes and edges/borders are their top priority to sort out......all I can say is.....BALDERDASH.

These local elections are of course not much of a guide.

There’s a rotational system where half the councils have elections every two years: this lot last voted 4 years ago and so there are 4 years of grudges being settled not 2. This time around, there is a disproportionate number of Labour councils, so the number of seats they’ve lost appears similarly disproportionate.

Also, it’s not entirely Labour losing votes to Reform. In some of the most racist working class areas yes but elsewhere it’s extreme leftists among Labour voters going to the Greens and the racist wing of the Conservative Party going to Reform.

We are in what the experts call deep-do-do.

Brexit looms large in some of this: surely it’s now clear it’s been a disaster. Britain is paying 1.5% more for its national debt than the EU (5% v 3.5%) which is a lot of money. We’re left isolated diplomatically and militarily as Trump makes the US more isolationist than it’s been since 1939. Smart move wasn’t it?

Just an afterthought. All that some care about is black and brown faces on the streets.

One easy way to cut migration is to make the UK a less prosperous, less democratic and less free and less safe country so it’s less attractive to potential immigrants. On that score, well done Brexiteers and Reform.

An American view:

"Results announced early Friday showed that the Reform party of Farage – a chief architect of Brexit and an ally of US President Donald Trump"

You know what, I just feckin give up. Trump in America, Boris in the past, Farage now. Brexit. I am getting to the point now of not bothering to vote at all. I hate that thought because I have always said everyone should vote. But, what is the bloody point these days. If you don't vote for the village idiot then you waste your time. I just don't understand what has happened to common sense. I am almost at the point of wanting Farage to get into power and to see what he actually does in reality instead of just talking about it. My big question to anyone who goes on and on about this Government being to blame for not sorting out imigrants who cross the channel is what would you do then. It's easy to criticise but when you have to deal with something for real it's a different ball game.
