Last game of the absolutely mad 2025/6 season, where at least for us, survival has been assured by PC. Take a bow sir, we salute you!

A win cements 9th place for us and has potential ramifications for Hull and Wrexham, depending of course on score lines.
A Hull win and a Wrexham loss see them swap places for 6th.
A Wrexham draw and Hull win by more than 2 goals see Hull take 6th.
A narrow Hull loss and 'Boro thrashing Wrexham may also give Hull 6th place as only a +1 GD currently favours Wrexham.

I think that's right!

Hull will be fighting hard and hopefully their desire to get points will not boil over into frustration. I wonder if PC will be tinkering a bit this game to give some of the bench more minutes and protect our World Cup bound superstars (as has been suggested in other threads)?

OTBC and cheers to you all from Tasmania.

Quality thread as usual buddy, 3 points definitely.
As you say, a really unbelievable season. From favourites for relegation to almost making the playoffs.
Looking forward to next season already.

I am really looking forward to next season. We look like strong contenders for a stab at promotion. It will be an interesting summer, the world cup will hopefully keep Cordoba and Toure even sharper for 26/27 season. Also a couple of handy players coming back from injury and some funds in the pot to spend from Sulky Sarje?

We know Hull will be switched on for this. I completely believe that PC will be pushing for 100% from the boys in yellow but I fear the beach may be calling for some this weekend. Can't see us delivering a Clement-ball master class. That will not detract from what a tremendous job PC and the team have achieved. <applause>

Great thread China. What impresses me about PC is that he's a thorough professional set on winning every game regardless of the circumstances. He'll desperately want to finish the season on a win in 9th place rather than 10th. Here's WhoScored's preview:

I can't see McLean, Toure, Cordoba or Ahmed risking injury to scupper their world cup chances. That is if they play of course. PC has said great things about Fisher and also Gibbs.

Interested to see that the match day thread on the Hull board is already on its 16th page. Surprisingly a lot of comments were pessimistic.

Given we've nothing to play for but Hull will, maybe a good match to play some our B string players, e.g. Grimshaw, Springett, Miles, Mundle-Smith to see if they've enoug about them at this level

There are strict rules about playing weakened sides and I suspect that the Authorities would come down on us like a ton of bricks especially if we included a player being released after the game.

I'm not suggesting plaing all the U18s there, just a few of the players with lower game time.
As for Springett playing, that'd surely be no different to Salah, Robertson, Silva playing a few minutes at the end of the season to say goodbye to the fans.

The 3 you mention are leaving because of their age - Springett is leaving because the Club do not consider him good enough for the Championship - one hell of a difference. When you are at the end of the season and promotion or relegation is at stake you have to be very careful with your team selection if you are playing a side involved in the
promotion or relegation battle.

I believe the rule is that the squad for the Hull game must feature 10 outfield players who were in the squad for the Swansea game.

Starting Wright, Forson, Grimshaw, even Mundle-Smith, doesn't present a problem, all were in last week's squad. Honestly I don't think we could make the volume of changes necessary to fall foul of that rule even if we wanted to.

Regardless, I don't think we should make wholesale changes and play the U18s, but using this game to give Wright and Forson in particular some minutes seems completely justifiable.

All this talk of playing a weakened team is below us. There is no way as a club we should even be considering it, whatever the rules say. To give Hull an easier ride and increase their chances of promotion just because we're no longer in the mix is morally wrong and from what I've witnessed would go agaist everything PC believes. It would definitely set the wrong tone going into next season. If we were in Wrexham or Derbys place I don't think any of us would be happy with the idea. At the end of the day sometimes doing the right thing comes with risks.
