I agree it would have been premature to go up, but how glorious a finish to the season it would have been, especially if we had been able to play Ipswich in the play offs

Still, the thought of having been still in the mix for playoffs up until the final round would have been unfathomable when PC took charge last year, so the rollercoaster has been great

The only thing that stings is looking back on all those squandered points from winning positions that would have put us over the line.

In fairness the recent Saints & Ipswich results pretty much killed our slim chances

What was OC saying to the team in the circle huddle at the end? Getting them ready for next season, praising their efforts or was it a dressing down?

Poach.a few youth players & recruit in the needed areas & we could be on the up.

Strikers are usually the most expensive & awkward to sign but we did great business already.

A Stacy upgrade & training the next Kenny replacement which looks like Mattson

He was telling them not to let disappointment at the draw and its implications for top six, spoil the moment of celebrating what they had achieved together over the season, and the unity of players, staff and fans which had made it possible.

Not often we draw these days.
The highlights looked like we had plenty of chances just no end product this time.
How many of our team now look forward to games in the World Cup, is it 4? Cordoba, Ahmed, Toure, Kenny...

Toure's getting quite a lot of hype in Aus. I expect he'll make the squad. The main sponsors seem to think so following his Norwich successes closely on their socials.

Really hope we've told Kenny he's not traveling for the Hull game and to spend some time with his family before the world cup. Would be gutted for him if he picks up an injury against a desperate Hull side in a game that's meaningless for Norwich.

The game isn't "meaningless for Norwich".

It's as meaningless as any league game ever will be. We're 9th now, win 5-0 we finish 9th, lose 5-0 and it still requires results elsewhere to go against us to cause us to plummet down the table to 10th.

As a club we are constantly asking players to show loyalty to the club and stay an extra season, or continue to perform when the subject of transfer speculation, or to accept we can't pay the wages of other teams. It is very rare that the club have an opportunity to show loyalty to the player and put the players' interests above the club. It's helpful to demonstrate to players that the club will do that when deserved.

Kenny's played 3700+ minutes for us this season and missed just 6 mins of league football in 2026. It's arguably much more valuable to give Wright the minutes in the middle anyway. There's no reason to risk his world cup spot in our final game.

Well put DH. There's also no difference in official EFL earnings finishing 10th rather than 9th. Unlike the PL, where each position higher can earn a club an extra 2.5-3m merit payment, the EFL has a standard award for all clubs 7th - 21st.

PC's view:

“Some asked for an extra free day this week, but I'm not going to give it now. They will be in (Sunday), because I want to assess what this game cost. I don't want to take any risk with that, to give them two days off and then come into building with some problems towards that Hull game. I want a final push from them towards this last game, also to end the season in a good feeling with your fans about the performance. You never control results, but you can control performance. So it's a few days then that they need to dig in to show this quality in the last game, and then they can have a one week period of holiday".

And specifically about Kenny:

“Kenny played amazing again. He's a leader by example. I'm really happy the way we've been working together on and off the pitch. He was again instrumental for the team and also you need that kind of players in the tough moments, in the difficult moments, in the big moments, to step up what he did in the second half.”

We really need to get Kenny for the rest of his playing days, and sign him up to the coaching team. He loves Norwich and Norfolk, so why would he want to go anywhere else. Future Manager material. Love The Mayor.

So with 1 game remaining Hull, Derby & Wrexham are still in with a shot .

Who do we want to get the last spot ?
