There's strong rumours going around that he has been left out of the match day squad tonight and that Pardew has told him his Newcastle career is over. Leeds are apparently interested in getting him in January. This also means we get to see Vuckic or Abeid start in CM tonight!

I think he knows its been over for a long time. On to a good thing though, picking up wages for nothing. Time to get rid of Smugder in Jan even if it means paying 80% of his wages until May when his contract ends. I will always have a soft spot for him for the promotion season, he put in some good performances that year and we might not be where we are now without his effort that season.

Will be good to see Vuckic and Abeid get a chance, both have talent in abundance, lets hope the knuckle down and fulfil all the expectations we have of them.

I hope this is true. Smith is well past his best and is just draining a huge amount of cash from the club for doing nothing. It's time to move him on and work on improving our younger players like Vukic and Abeid.

If he starts tonight then Pardew is just asking for trouble.

he's known this for ages can't see him going anywhere for less money so he'll just do what he's been doing for a while now seeing out his contract and counting his cash.

I hope Vuckic starts, his chance has been long over due and he's supposed to have loads of potential so I'm looking forward to seeing him break into the team. Also I'd like to see Abeid giving a run out mid second half if the circumstances in the match are right.

I like Alan Smith, always have, always will and i think it's a shame he didn't get more of a chance up front (one game or something wasn't it?). But still, he's been a drain on resources for a while and it's in the best interests of everybody for him to move on now so he can at least play out the end of his career and we don't pay him for doing nothing.

I would love to see this lad have his chance, was impressed with him when he came on against Swansea, full of energy and relaxed on the ball. A very good player IMO

I like Smudger, he's a proper grafter but unfortunately he's just not good enough. I blame Sralex for ruining his promising career as a striker in his search for the 'new Roy Keane'

I agree, Alan Smith was good in his days at Leeds, move to Man U and his broken leg was where the change was noticable, was never that same player again. Let the lad go to Leeds to end his playing career where he started it.

Nice lad, but not brilliant anymore, Pardew has sense telling him to move on.

Would Leeds fans want him back considering what happened when he left them first time round?
