Short term keeper contract

https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/2025/september/19/goalkeeper-ben-hamer-signs/

From the official site:
GOALKEEPER Ben Hamer has joined QPR on a short-term deal.
The 37-year-old stopper, who was with Sheffield Wednesday in 2024/25, enjoyed a pre-season campaign with Derby County while looking for a new club.

Hamer has made more than 350 professional appearances across a host of clubs including Brentford, Charlton, Leicester, Derby, Swansea and Watford, and he is excited to assist the QPR goalkeeping group following Joe Walsh’s recent injury.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to join the group and train,” he said. “Every player wants to play and I'm no different in that sense but my attitude doesn't change whether I'm playing or not.

“I had a similar situation at Watford with Daniel Bachmann. He was an Austrian international and doing really well before being sent off for a game. I came in and ended up keeping the shirt for 20-odd games. I supported him the whole way and he reciprocated that for me.

“You need to support each other. The team always comes first for me. Regardless of whether I'm playing or not, you have to have the same attitude.”

CEO Christian Nourry said: “Following Joe’s unfortunate injury suffered last week we felt it was important to provide more cover in the goalkeeper position.

“We feel very privileged to be able to add Ben’s character, quality and experience to the group for the coming months.”

Plenty of reports about Ronnie Edwards being on the outer at Soton. Articles suggest he wants to come back. Click bait? Can we afford him though? Liked him when he was here

My totally uneducated guess is we were close to getting him, he was quite keen on it (his dad is a QPR fan I’ve been told semi-reliably for what it’s worth) but the clubs couldn’t agree on the package. Expect the initial outlay will be relatively small but weighted towards appearances if it does happen. He’s certainly needed both for the 90% of games JCS can’t play and with Cook gone next season. Sometimes players are just a good fit and for us he’s a good fit.

Can get this up and running now we only have late season friendlies as is traditional for QPR in April.

We are supposedly interested in NAC Breda left-back Boy Kemper. 26, 6’1”, former Ajax and Holland youth.

I'd love it if we signed him but I think he's capable of playing at a much higher level than us.

Whats everyones thoughts. I am genuinely excited about next season. I dont require instant success, and a 2nd season with JS at the helm with this squad plus some additions. So if u could add to 3 positions whats your summer transfer requirements. Mine
1 A decent goalie
2. A LB
3. A hardcore midfielder

A midfielder has to be the priority. We’ve been crying out for midfielders for years even if the current crop stay and stay fit. We’ll have to get a left-back but assuming money is tight I’d be focussing most of it on the midfield.

QPR have been linked with Dutch left-back Boy Kemper.

26 year old, end of contract therefore on a free from Dutch club Breda.

My question, why not keep proven Norrington Davis especially as Larcheche is now training again (who had a good season in Scotland before coming back to get an injury with the home of the long term injury QPR.
Maybe price?

Yes, I reckon several players and Stephan himself will improve after a first season in the Championship. Looking forward to that.

I agree with the 3 areas you say we need to recruit in. However, I'd add RB position, too. We've gone too many seasons without at least two decent options in both positions.

A lot of talk goes on about getting a great goalscorer, maybe paying a bit for it is worth it, etc. But I reckon spending money to get in a great goalkeeper could be just as worthwhile. Keepers can play a big part in getting you promoted/avoiding relegation.

QPR keen on Man Utd youngster Amass

By David McIntyre 17/04/2026

QPR are keen on Manchester United’s teenage left-back Harry Amass.

With Rhys Norrington-Davies approaching the end of his season-long loan, Rangers are assessing possible options for next season.

They would be interested in keeping Norrington-Davies, but a deal with Sheffield United does not look straightforward. He is under contract at the Yorkshire club until the summer of 2027.

Other left-backs have therefore been identified as potential signings – and Londoner Amass, who turned 19 last month, is currently QPR’s top target.

He has recently been on loan at Norwich City, who are also expected to target him in the summer.

Amass joined Norwich on loan in January, having spent the first part of the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

However, he returned to United after suffering a serious hamstring injury in training days after making his debut for the Canaries.

Amass, who has played for England at various age levels, was at Watford before being signed by United in 2023, having also attracted interest from Chelsea. He has made five Premier League appearances since that move.

Norrington-Davies’ upturn

Norrington-Davies, who will turn 27 next week, has performed well during his loan spell.

He was badly hampered by injuries prior to his move to west London but has fared much better this season, making 38 appearances.
