I've seen loads on social media saying how great we were, ffs I must be missing something. Whilst I'm overjoyed by the win, I'm mighty pissed off with the recent piss poor performances. Yeah ok, call me a negative nelly or whatever but can anyone really say we have been great over the last month or so? Personally I like to be entertained, we are currently not entertaining ....give me the last promotion season over this season all day long!! The scary thing is, we have spent about 150 million + since that team and we have regressed imo. If course I'm chuffed to bits that it looks like we are going up again but I miss the entertaining Ipswich of previous seasons, after all, that's what football is all about!!
I am sure many agree Spanish, we miss the free flowing style, but perhaps the tactics today worked well, and in spite of silly errors we can come away from Naaarwich with our heads held high. Our defence was outstanding. And we have had a run of significant injuries and absences. A few werent fully fit for today.

Just hope the treatment staff can work flat out next few days after so many flying tackles around.

As I said on the post, we all love Chappers but he is 'at home' now, and wont be back at PR. He will help Pompey to avoid the drop, and manager Mousinho is a helluva nice bloke, unlike Mr Clement.

Been on the beers most of the day! That’s our first win at Carrow Road since 2006 and our first double over Norwich since the 1990s!

A very impressive win, a brilliant team performance, and some excellent defending. From memory, that’s the first time I’ve seen us play at Carrow Road where I was confident we wouldn’t concede. We held them at arms length most the match. I thought our penalty decision was soft and Nunez should’ve been sent off - but about time we get some refereeing good luck after some terrible decisions given against us earlier in the season. Saying that, we hit them effectively on the break several times and had great chances to score more if Hirst and Azon were better finishers.

We went to one of the division’s best in-form teams and beat them. This side hasn’t quite won the popularity contest and some supporters still seem a bit off them - despite the success we’ve had this season - but beating Norwich home and away deserves the plaudits. Fair play to McKenna - outcoached Clement.

Enjoy it FFS. Honestly some of our fanbase have such short memories. Remember what we were like only three or four years ago and who we were playing? “Recent poor performances” we haven’t lost a game since February!

Jesus wept - we’ve just gone two points clear in second (with two games in hand) and done the double over Norwich for the first time in over three decades.

It’s okay that we’re not doing it in the style from two years ago. And that was always going to feel better because we hadn’t got promoted for 22 years previously, but we’re on track for three promotions in four years. You’re allowed to enjoy it bloody hell. Stop comparing it to last time, just effing enjoy the good times.

**** yeah, I'll take that against Norwich all day long.

No complaints from me about style of football, not dominating for 90 minutes or whatever, we're sitting second and in pole position for automatic promotion. Is it the free flowing football of two years ago, no, but it does have us in the position we want to be in.

McK was right to sub Nunez off, he'd been telling him quite clearly not to make any more fouls and he continued to do so, putting the team and result at risk. Davis had to make a tactical sit down to give the players, and more importantly, Nunez, the chance to go over and speak to the manager. Even though Kieran pulled Nunez to the side, he obviously wasn't convinced that he wouldn't make a stupid error and yanked him off swiftly.

O'Shea and Greaves were immense, Jacob clearly and with warranted merit, keeping Kipre out of the team. I actually wasn't surprised to see Johnson at RW given the type of game it was,Taylor made some great tackles. I also put our improvement in results down to having Walton in goal again, so much better than Palmer.

You can see in the last two matches that Hirst is buoyed by Scotland getting to the World Cup. He has been full of confidence and playing like someone that wants to impress.

With favourable results around us, promotion is looking very likely!

Defensively - we were absolutely exceptional. Showing your attacker the right way, positioning, how to block, getting the line right, the sheer number of headers we won, when to see it out, when to clear, coming out on top corner after corner after corner. And these defenders can play too.
In attack - converting twice. Can have absolutely no arguments.
In midfield - supporting the defensive effort, creating plenty of quality chances, pressing relentlessly and above all else battling for every single ball.
As for entertainment, if that’s not enough entertainment for you over 90 minutes then go and see the Elvis Epic film or the Michael biopic. You won’t find it at a football match.

Seriously though, you just can’t have the kamikaze football of two years ago and be solid defensively. The team of 2024 were so entertaining in part because they defended like clowns and left the back wide open. They also didn’t have to develop chemistry over the season. They had it from League One.

Great result, superb position we're in. I only managed to catch the 2nd half which we defended generally very well and countered well too.

I do have some sympathy with what Spanish is saying, that team from 2 seasons ago was superb and entertaining and actually in regards to the centre of the park pretty good defensively. This team now is nowhere near as entertaining and not as good in many ways and cost more than 10times the price.

We are definitely playing more like some of the lower PL teams we played against last season, who we often controlled the match against but they just sat tight, made it a scrap and then done alot better in the transitions. Unfortunately football appears to be going more like that and it is boring.

Bringing Nunez on changed the narrative of the game and secured the victory, he played his role perfectly.

That's an interesting take, you think he was just sent on to run interference and break up the play?A (risky) master stroke by KMc if that's what he intended(not so sure myself!)

I think what the game did show is that KMc isn't just a one-trick pony when it comes to tactics.

Yesterday couldn’t have gone much better for us. Penalty was a 50/50 decision which had there been VAR, I think would have stayed with whatever decision ref had given. Very solid formation and gave up very few chances. Scoring right on half time must have deflated them and we saw the game out. Boro also lost, the only slightly bad result was Southampton who are putting together an absolutely ridiculous run. On to Portsmouth (finally) where same again would be very nice

So the first Look East since the Derby and exactly how much time do they devote to it?Big fat zero!

Absolutely, that’s why he wasn’t bothered about being pulled off, the job was done he’d got under their skin and the focus had switched from trying to get back in the game to trying to get him or someone booked/sent off.

Bang on the money. They were entirely focussed on Nunez and then it was like a bomb being defused when he came off that took all the sting out of the match too.
