Forecast suggesting that this could be the warmest day of the year so far......so Spring it is then.

Meanwhile, I face complaints that it’s too early to go from 24/7 central heating to mornings and evenings only…….

As Mrs Plym becomes older....the heating bill gets bigger.................normal would be 2hrs in the morning (8-10am).....and in the evening it would be another two hrs (6-8pm)....we do have insulated walls and the retention of heat is quite good......but I have succumbed to Mrs Plym's requirements and the electric bill is frightening (electric oven as well).....the smart meter hits the red area every time the kettle goes on.....I have failed dismally to stop her walking away from the kettle just as it comes to boiling.....she comes back and turns it on again then gets sidetracked yet again....so the kettle goes on again......this continuation on/off with the kettle must cost us £100's over the course of a year.....I have secretly considered chaining her to the kitchen work surface until she has made her drink.....but that might cause domestic problems.....so I walk away and try and pretend that the kettle isn't going on/off.....on/off.....on/off.....but it can be stressful.

Over here on the West Coast of Canada we get a lot of rain..
We have a gas fireplace which keeps our living room warm.
Its a bungalow so we don't bother with heating the rest of the house.
If it gets really cold we just turn on our electric base heaters.
The cost of heating is very low anyway.
We have no problem with boiling the kettle..
My only problem is the cost of coffee going up..Lol.
Oh and the cost of petrol.
$2per Litre
Just coming up to 84yrs life is good..
Just saying
You can Roger that.

Plym get a quooker hot tap fitted ..

solar panels and a battery for storage and a heat pump. If the heat pump is installed correctly it wont cost a fortune in electric.

I took the thermal solar panels off my roof last summer had them 12 years. put 14 panels and a battery works wekk, ok the export is not great but had no bills until decmeber and my electric was 320 a month the gas was about 140 . i have no gas now just a heat pump and just fitted a heat pump in our unit.. i will see .. just need to sort out the water.. rain water harvesting may be..
its all costly but saves .. a lot argue but we are installing heat pumps more now than boilers and loads solar and batteries .. keep the sun shining

At 87 next week I doubt if I would live long enough to get any benefit from the cost of putting in Solar panels.

I doubt if Mrs Plym could fathom out a Quooker tap.....from the telly adverts it doesn't show you how they work.

Heat pumps are not efficient enough yet.....and need an outdoor space where it wouldn't be a noise problem for next door.

We have open fires in the Living Room and Dining Room and could open up two more I think.

Luckily, I live with a Master Scavenger and Unpaid Social Worker. If anyone cuts down a tree within a two mile radius, we get the logs. We don't use log burners as lining the chimneys would cost an arm and a leg and they wouldn't be in keeping. The new regulations seem to encourage the use of energy to dry logs before they're burnt; I'd like to see the mathematics of that. My gut reaction is that it's about as sensible as replacing piped water with bulk delivery of ice that you can then melt.

Other than that, we'd be looking at a Major Works contract to replace the gas heating. It should have been done before we bought it: prior to that it was I think 9 bed-sits, so obviously it was ripped apart then.

Plym i get that a quooker tap is easy to use .. use as a normal tap and for boiling water just turn the bottom it goes red and yippee

unless you wan tthe sparkling water also and filtered

Heat pumps are ok and getting better, 7500 grant towards them at present so a good saving we are using the samsung and ideal range, sun power batteries with inverter and panels ..

As for drying logs .. cost you more to dry than you sabe on energy bills..

Sat 28th March.......Bradford v Argyle match postponed because of internal call ups.

Conor Hazard.....N Ireland.......Bim Pepple....Canada.

Brendan Wiredu will be out for a month or so with a persisting abdominal issue which needs surgery.

So a fortnight's rest before the next league game....that can be seen as a plus.....this allows our multitude of injured players time to recover.....which would be a bonus at the moment.....allowing us to rest players that have got too much playing time in their legs at present.

BUT.....there could be a downside as well.......a fortnights break in our momentum might mean that our winning streak might get interrupted and we might lose that winning way that we have taken for granted.

Lincoln seem to be the only top team not running out of steam.......

Bolton's recent record is only average......beat Wycombe 3-2....,drew with Doncaster 0-0.....thrashed Exeter 5-1.....drew with Rotherham 2-2.....lost to Port Vale 1-0.....drew with Reading 1-1.....drew with Lincoln 1-1.....drew with Blackpool 2-2.........so eleven points from a possible twenty four.... for an average of only 1.375 pts per game.........so two win.....five draws and one defeat.....so we've pulled quite a few points back against them.....so possibilities for us as long as our winning form hasn't faded away.

Having confidently announced that spring was here on March 17th.....Today at this moment.....we have strong winds...sleet and hailstone and the lawn is completely white......and it is very cold in that wind.
