I said it last time we were in this situation and got slated, but I still stand by it.

There has to be a youth player that can come in and do a job. Keep Drameh on the right and play an Ashbee (not sure if he’s a CB or LB) or another youngster in their natural position.

Millar experiment didn’t work, nor will drameh on the left.
sorry but ......

Why do you feel the need to mock everyone who disagrees with you
I don't. Not at all. I welcome sensible discussion with differing views.
BUT when we've had page after page discussing that actually there isn't anyone in the academy atm to step to fill a FB position it does make you feel you are banging your head against a brick wall, even more so when a(nother) post pops up that doesn't even name a potential, other than in this case a player who doesn't even play as a FB!!!!
Just to further emphasise the point, if it even really needed it, in recent U21 matches they've even had Bobby Moore, named in our U18 squad who is a CD/CM filling in at RB, and a young, raw U18, Cayden Cole, filling in at LB (with Devine, a LB having gone to Guisely last month for a taste of senior football - he might make it but nowhere near as yet).

People are talking about massive as if they're dog and duck fc. They've hardly been tonked all year and messed our Christmas up last time we played them.

The suggestion of throwing a kid in from academy football is ludicrous. Bench one and blood him IF we are 3 goals up. But to start a kid at this point of the season is nonsense.

Ive posted recently about the Chinese kid I saw playing for Barnsley u21. Looked like a world beater yet not one single club wanted him. The levels of academy football and northern Premier league are a million miles away from the Championship. Christ, we are struggling enough with seasoned pros without adding more jeopardy to the mix.

Sure I asked before but forgot the answer, what's happened to Mccarthy. Played a bit and did OK including against Middlesbrough. I see he been called up for Ireland.

Ludicrous is not giving it a chance. The issue we have with youth is everyone wants the next youth player to be a top player, think KLP/Greaves etc.

I could not 10 youth players, in fact I will; Andy Smith, Tymon, Townsend, Jacob, McKenzie, Fleming, Clark, Batty, Bradley, Nixon.

None of these are 10mil players, but all have gone on to have successful careers. We need to trust youth more rather than playing players out of position. 1 youth player in a team of a 11 will do us a job and won’t be the difference between winning and losing whereas a player playing out of position might be, IE Millar as a LB who looked awful.

It depends what your idea of successful is. Only 2 of those players are championship level players. We play in the championship and people are calling for untested academy kids to be given their debut in a must win game in one of the most difficult leagues in the world.

These kids are not even ripping it up in non league, theyre not ready. If they ever will be their debuts wont be given in crunch games like this. Its not a game of fifa on the ps5.

This seems as good as place as any to ask this question

If you go to a game on a motor bike is there anywhere to put your helmet?
And where's best to park your bike?

(Yes I'm ready for all the rude comments about where or where not to put my helmet)
Im sure ive seen a guy carrying a helmet in E10. Can't you put it under your seat?

Yet again, the million dollar question is who?!!!!! Or are you gonna stick with the idea of young Stan Ashbee out of position ahead of senior pros who actually have experience of playing the position at this level & higher?

ps thanks Jim for some sanity!

I completely disagree and stand by the fact that a youngster playing in their natural will offer more than a pro playing out of theirs.

A team of youngster however? Not a chance. One player playing in a one off game will do us absolutely no harm.

It will be an absolute nonsense to take our player of the season (Slater) out of midfield to put him LB and then take our 2nd choice RB (Drameh) to put him LB. We will be down 3 positions there (CM/LB/RB). Put an academy player in and we are down one.

If we don’t have a youth player fit to play fullback, fair enough. If we do, they must start.

Take and use a good lock or three. Keep your helmet in your hand it will be useful to bat the kid wearing a black balaclava across the back of his head if and when you catch him grinding through the lock.

In all seriousness I have no idea about parking a motorbike at the stadium but they should have a secure place.

He’s ****e. We should let him rot with the under-21s or loan him out to a club in the National League North.

In fact, I’d go a step further and shut the academy down entirely as none of them will ever make it at this level.

Thats not how it is being said though is it? Certainly not by me.

There is a time to introduce academy products and young inexperienced players, we have done it this season earlier on. Now, the business end in high pressure situations is not the time. Certainly not when we dont actually have any that are showing any signs of being ready.

When youngsters like wayne rooney or the lad at arsenal now break through it isn't by chance. They've been ripping it apart at every level they've been exposed to. We dont have any youngster that is screaming first team potential. In fact the person I have asked about our academy described it as the worst crop for some time.

We have a huge game this weekend and need experienced players on the field to ensure we get 3 points. Its not time to be throwing babies into situations theyre not used to.

What a bizarre post!!
I said repeatedly, as others have, that he's the standout. That's why he's been with the 1st team and regularly named on the bench.

-> ‘Why doesn’t everyone just agree with me all the time? :emoticon-0106-cryin

Another totally bizarre post! It's not that at all, as anyone with even half a brain would understand. The banging the head gif was about repeated stupid posts saying we should play an academy kid on Saturday, in a crucial game for us, yet can't mention who that kid would actually be other than the suggestion of Stan Ashbee who doesn't even play as a FB!! It's not why don't they agree with me, it's wtaf is going on here!!!
