I think the standard of the PL has dropped considerably, teams have been awful in the CL this season with the exception of Arsenal. Manure in 3rd when in previous seasons they’d struggle to break top 10 shows how far it has dropped off……Is PSR having a detrimental effect on the standard of English football?

Yeah for sure it is.... The best players in the world don't come here anymore. The thing is though that Newcastle target steady PL players so we're absolutely found out vs good teams.
Disappointing tonight but overall the campaign had more highs than lows, only lost to Barca(2) and Marseille…..not bad out of 12 matches.

A big rebuild in terms of defence - we need 2 goalkeepers, a RB, a LB and a CB. Trips should leave. Burn plays out his final year but he is back up. Thats before anybody leaves like Tino.
Midfield, we need pace DM and technical players.
Strikers - no idea as I dont know what Wissa and Wolt are in Eddies thinking.
So yes a rebuild is needed which we all knew.

Huge massive pile of ****. First half got hopes up then it all went to **** in the second half.....reality is though we did massively push Barcelona for 1.5 games...but yes the hideous scorelines does not reflect that.

It's the fact we just gift goals that is most annoying...not like we are getting carved apart by brilliant football...we just defend like a **** sunday morning side.
The likes of most our side don't belong at this level.. We've got a few that are but the majority are mid to bottom of the PL standard players.

They were slinky in the first half and took the lead, then we got back and didn't let them overrun us.
The second half was a totally different story. That pass from Ramsey for the 7th goal just epitomised everything about the second half - us becoming slack and them being ruthless.

Burn following his man deep into their half and then they just do a bit of skill and we are done. We are what we but its time to put that result to one side and if we win on Sunday, then we are in a good position to get Europe again but this time at a level we can actually truly compete. We arent top 8 in Europe so when we come up against them, we try but we get found out.
Reminded me quite a lot of when we played Man U at home in 2003 or something and had a chance at the title - went 1-0 up and everything looking amazing....then lost 2-6. Major reality check.
That’s a bit harsh, we beat top teams from Holland and Portugal. PSV gave Liverpool a clipping and Benfica almost knocked Madrid out. We performed well away to Leverkusen and should’ve won, made PSG look ordinary in their back yard……I’d give our CL performance a B grade.
We aren't even top 8 in the PL... We're huff and puff and when the puff runs out we get a good whalloping.... This focus on athleticism and leadership groups full of good lads hit it's ceiling.
We've had a great CL run, just a horrible ending.
Yeah, Europa is the ideal competition for us, and we're in a decent place to go for it right now. With no cup or Europe games anymore we have a good chance, just all about how we can kick on from here.
