Match Preview;
After a splendid win away at Leicester, we next welcome Portsmouth to HQ this Saturday. That win leaves us 16th, eleven points ahead of the relegation spots, and ten points behind 6th place...pretty much the definition of mid-table. Given the squad he's had to work with, the injuries we've had and the lack of goal scoring strikers, I don't think we can be too grumpy about this, and I've reached a point of accepting it'll be another season of picking up a few new faces over the summer, and hoping for better next year. Lots of talk this week about Celar, and a likely move away in the summer (see article link below), but no clear idea where he's heading. With Kone showing glimpses of promise, and Burrell hopefully back soon, I'm confident we have the makings of a decent front two, but I'm potentially being rather overly optimistic about Kone. Discuss.

As for our visitors, they'll be desperate for a win, given they sit 20th, just one point above the relegation zone. They lost 0-1 to Derby last night, so haven't had the rest our players have had this week. They've lost four and drawn one in their last five, their last win coming on February 21st away at Millwall. Their top scorer is Adrian Segecic, with 6 goals so far, and in total they've only scored 36, joint second worst in the division alongside Charlton, Blackburn and Oxford. Their manager is John Michael Lewis Mousinho, who took over in January 2023 immediately after retiring from playing at Oxford United. Since then, he's managed to get Pompey back to the Championship, winning League One in 2024, and led them to safety in their first season back. An interesting stat nicked off wikipedia...at the start of the 2025/26 season, he was the only manager in charge of a Championship club to have been in his post at the beginning of the previous season. Craziness.

Team news and manager comments to go up when on the official, enjoy if you'll make it to HQ, and as always...

...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

Slow trains only because we aren’t a serious country but otherwise looking forward to the familiar semi-competitive run-in where Esquerdinha will put in one decent cross and people will start thinking he’s good enough. The cavalry shall return and we’ll delude ourselves next season will be different if only they can all stay fit.

Massive for Pompey who I hope stay up of the options available.

Can't make this due to a friend's 70th birthday tea at 3pm! Rather inconvenient for footie fans.
Just hope we can put on a good show.
COYRs!

Birthday tea??!!

I'm going to a 70th bash in the evening. A few pints before the game and then have to somehow while away a couple of hours afterwards before going to the party. Could get messy.

I think we will put on a show this week.

I think it’s tea and then a play time in the soft play ball park for everyone.

Will be somewhere East of Orkney and West of Norway with a cocktail on the go...... yay

Pompey one point from last five games, we're straight off an unexpected away win. Just the sort of game we manage to f*ck up as per Blackburn. I'll be delighted if we win but have a feeling desperation may once again trump our lackadaisical approach...

Sadly, previous form suggests you might be right. Here's hoping.
