Since 1969 I have loved football. The high. The lows. Putting up with corruption.

No more.

In reality, it's just the accumulation of **** that happens day in, day out that has brought me to this point of not enjoying football but I've really had enough.

The last few years have been particularly hard as I've been caring 24/7 for Lorraine, my better-half, who rapidly developed dementia just under 4 years ago. That's why I've said doing the football predictions has helped keep me sane. I will continue to run Predict 6 until the end of the season but after that I will say goodbye to all you reprobates  on here and try to reclaim some sanity away from the farce that is supposed to be the greatest game in the world.

See some of you on the P6 thread later.

Cheers

Jon

Can fully understand where youre coming from mate but hopefully give it a pre season and you'll get the appetite back especially with all those marquee signings we make.
Seriously though mate, feel for you my mom had dementia but we are a large family so shared the load, it must be very difficult as a main carer all the best to you Jon.

You haven’t mate, bigger things have taken over and football doesn’t hold the magic it once did. The real world is just bigger. Football should be our escape, our magic, our dreams but it’s getting sanitised. I hated the Sunderland game and I hated today. The ref totally lost in his own decision realising he had caused Gudmonsons sending off, the absolute ****er of a Palace player celebrating the red card. If you just look at those in isolation, it’s just bullshit because Lorraine is important, this isn’t.

I’ve kind of given up posting, just so much personal stuff going on but I feel where you’re at, this should just be footie and it’s sort of more.

You’re one of the best on here mate, carry on if you can

I stopped my season ticket many moons ago and nothing about today's game would tempt me back ... overpaid players, fake diving and rolling, waiting on many occasions for permission to celebrate a goal because of VAR, pathetic refs, soulless grounds etc,etc the game has like society in general gone south....all the best stonkin take care of what matters <ok>...

I watch ALOT of football. I mean a hell of alot. From all over Europe mainly.

Obviously I am very much affiliated to Leeds United but the best football to watch is the Championship down. The top European leagues are more boring than the Premier League and are heavily weighted in the established clubs favour. From finances to decisions on the pitch. Its blatantly obvious but is never spoken about. I dislike the top level of the game....it's boring. Tedious stuff. I love Leeds but I can say I've only enjoyed a handful of games this season. The obvious ones like Chelsea at home and Palace at home but the 1-0 win against Everton was very entertaining as was the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. The 4-3 defeat at Newcastle was a game of the season contender even though it ended in heartbreak. The rest? Absolute borefests.

The lower you go, the more pure the game. There are better games in league 2 than the PL. I often watch Accrington Stanley at home and the football isn't very skillful but the theatre of it is much better.

Well the way things are looking, you’ll be able to enjoy watching championship football again next season.

Really sorry to hear about your wife

Really sorry to hear about your wife Jon. It puts things into perspective.

My love of football has ebbed and flowed over time generally. I've had a bad few years from a personal perspective, but my interest in football has gone up... i guess it's been an escape/coping mechanism. But also, Leeds' relative success after years in the doldrums has played a part.

Still I completely, get the frustration with the current game. I hope in time you return - if it's given you joy in the past i hope it can again in the future. But if not... best of luck to you.

I really feel for you, terrible news and others have said puts football into perspective. We all fret and angst over something that’s supposed to be a release from the stresses of real life. We all know that if we get relegated the world doesn’t end, we’ll all be here next season, moaning when we’re **** and bouncing every time we win. Wishing you all the best.

Sorry to hear about ur wife my wife's dad has just died also another reason ive been alot more quiet.
Football is broken and rather than try and fix the real problems they brush them under the carpet.
They punish the lower teams as the so called big teams always get away with blue murder.
This Man City case is a joke.
Yellow cards these days are so inconsistent intact I dont even know what a foul is these days its basically just fall over from the slightest of touches.
Why because they can and will continue to do so as nothing gets done about it.
