Airing dirty family laundry on social media is extremely unedifying in my view.
But if Brooklyn believes he and his wife are being attacked constantly by his own parents using their huge social media presence, I guess he feels he has little choice but to respond in kind.

Regardless of who you are, being demeaned & put down by messages that you know millions of people will read, and most will believe, must be extremely hurtful. Virtually impossible to keep your response a private matter.
Fair point.

I may have misunderstood the situation a little regarding Brooklyn's spat with his parents.
Rather than openly putting him down on social media, D & V have been pretending that everyone is just a big happy family - in order not to damage 'Brand Beckham' - while waging a behind-the-scenes war on Brooklyn's own family - his wife in particular.

So the son has decided to hit Mom & Dad where it hurts - by trying to explode the myth of Brand Beckham as wholesome Apple Pie family values, which of course US consumers worship.

As mentioned before, I have no sympathy for either party, beyond acknowledging that Brooklyn never asked to be born the son of D & V, and to be brought up in the kind of world they want to perpetuate.

I find I've got a sort of voyeuristic interest in this story. Sir David always seems to have a fixed benign smile on his face and it does make me wonder why.

Poor old Brooklyn Beckham.

Like other kids born into wealth & privilege ('Spare' Harry for example) I don't have much sympathy, except to acknowledge that they did not ask to be born into their families or circumstances.

However, with the exception of Harry maybe, it must be possible for celebrity kids to remove themselves from the limelight if they really want to.
Use their resources to become anonymous and earn a living like the rest of us.
I'm not sure if kids of celebs can remove themselves from the limelight in modern society, which in itself is a problem.

Again, not the fault of the kids if they aren't as successful as the parents, I think it's an extremely difficult situation to be in. I have some sympathy for Brooklyn, seems like he has been told to tow the party line, hasn't and he's been made out to be the issue by his parents.

Can’t say I’d much care for posh spice inappropriately dancing with (on???) me either :emoticon-0138-think

Now I see claims in the tabloids that Brooklyn's mother danced "inappropriately" with him at the lad's wedding! <doh> <laugh> :emoticon-0111-blush
The word 'sensational' doesn't quite cover it.
Absolutely classic salacious showbiz scandal <bubbly><diva>

And the masses lap it up, I'm not that particularly interested which 'celebrity' is shagging which no mark, or the private life of the royal family.
As for the Beckham's, I have three sisters and a brother, and I can't ever imagine cutting contact with any of them.
Sit down, talk it out, move on. :emoticon-0138-think

Transatlantic Sessions tonight at the Festival hall means I'll miss the match. It's a wonderful evening's music, with top Celtic and Blue Grass musicians getting together for an annual treat which I never miss. Year before last they spotted Eric Clapton in the audience, and he got up in the second half and sang an Irish ballad with the musicians. Last year Johnnie Cash's daughter singing "Ring of Fire" was the highlight.

One of the funniest things I ever saw on TV, and with plenty of darkness in the humour, was the TV adaptation of Tom Sharpe's Porterhouse Blue.
Oddly enough I'm not really a Tom Sharpe fan, but this was as close as I've ever seen to a perfect dark English Comedy drama.
I could watch it a hundred times and never get tired f it.
David Jason & Ian Richardson seem to be perfectly cast (not that I've actually read the book). Both magnificent actors.

It is pure class, but the book is better.

My favourite Tom Sharpe is The Throwback. I have a rare copy and it's signed. I picked it up from a bookshop in Rochester. I don't think the seller had looked inside, as he could have added a couple of noughts on to the price.
