Good Morning. It's Thursday 5th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Does defensively minded Farke need to go for broke

Tuesday's loss to Sunderland has drawn criticism from many Leeds fans for being too defensive. It's true, the Whites enjoyed the lions share of the opportunities, but if truth be known, apart from Rodon's offside effort, they never looked like scoring. At least the Whites enjoyed shots at goal, however tame, the only effort on target for Regis Le Bris' team was the spot kick.

It's a difficult balancing act. Undoubtedly, Leeds have picked up draws, where (on paper) the odds didn't look good (like Manchester Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea), but have also drawn games they should have won for being too defensively minded, like they did against an injury ravaged Sunderland, who had not won away from home since last October.

In their last 15 matches, Leeds have won 3, lost four and drawn 8. I've often thought that one point for a draw is disproportionate. To my way of thinking, two points for a win, and four for a draw would be both more logical and fair. 18th place West Ham are now just three points behind the Whites - is it time we go for broke?

A bad night for Leeds fans

Leeds fans will be looking over their shoulders this morning after West Ham picked up 3 precious points at Fulham and Nottingham Forest come back twice from losing positions to draw at the Etihad, moving them both within striking distance of the Whites, albeit the Hammers have a far less healthy goal difference.

The form guide tells an alarming picture. Three losses, two draws and a win have seen the Whites only collect five points from their last six games, and let's face it - they look knackered!!! Not recruiting in January (Buonanotte doesn't count) whilst all over teams around them have, must give Leeds relegation rivals both a shot in the arm as far as fresh players are concerned, and a phycological boost.

Fernandes, Summerville and Bowen are game changers. With their 5 new additions, I can't see West Ham going down. 4 wins 2 draws and 2 defeats, Nuno will keep them up.

Farke is one of the more attack-minded coaches in football. The idea that he set up defensively is a nonsense, there's more to attacking than formation, he plays gruev and gets him to drop into the left back position in possession to let others go forward, we have 'centre backs' like Justin turning up on the right wing. We play differently in possession than out of it. The same set up dominated Sunderland in December. Playing 3 CHs helped us stem the leaking of goals down our left side but it didn't stop us trying to attack.

We finally got some breaks for a couple of months. Seems normal service has resumed with our only luck being bad luck whilst our rivals have benefitted from keeper errors and refereeing decisions.

Wonder what Summerville is worth now?

9th May could be interesting.

Looking at our remaining games we have quite a few of the bottom teams to play. I guess that’s good (but, I know, it doesn’t always work out like u to pud think).
I’m not sure if playing the bottom teams is a good or bad thing, for them, they’ll be thinking good. The games prior to Sunderland felt a relentless battle against all the top teams, I’m hoping it’s not taken too much out of the tank, we have gone off the boil a little

That’s my concern too. Plus the bottom teams are more likely to park the bus…Which we don’t do well with. Look at our recent record against Burnley.

Yes, I’ve been reading there and on ja for a few days they are all totally convinced that they are going down.

They’re getting desperate <laugh>

Cancel the PL and end the season now with teams given their finish as the table stands”
