It sounds like the same situation Pards had when he kept on leaving Mascherano and Tevez on the bench. I really can't understand why he wasn't put on.

Let's face it we might never have seen Santon if we hadn't had injuries to both CB'S I can only presume he's fallen out with him.

Maybe HBA defecated in the shower and lied about it only for Pardew to find out.... Seriously just pick him Pards :(

Don't think we'll have as much control against West Brom! might not be the time. Today definately was.

I think it's pretty obvious that he's been acting up behind the scenes and Pardew is trying to put him in his place. He needs to knuckle down and do his job, then he'll get the games.

This but to be honest he should be coming on when were dominating a game and need a killer pass or bit of skill to unlock a defense.

    Its quite simple.

We dominated this game. The only thing we lacked was to create something a bit special in the final third. Swansea were never gonna score against us.

So yea, bringing on Ben Arfa would have been an obvious mistake............

Pardew is f*cking useless at substitutions. Ive said it all season come win come loss come draw.

    Its a fact.

    SAMMY F*CKING AMEOBI? My god!

Santon was excellent yesterday. Seriously, how ryan taylor has been keeping himmout of the teammis laughable.

Apparently the journal have a story on ben arfa on tues explaining his absence.

He should be playing. Simple as that.

I find pardew's rationale for team selection worrying at times.

    Sammy over hba man? Really!?

Sammy's the only RW who'll track back that we have besides Obertan.

Why is the only possible explanation that he's "done something"? It was tactical to leave him out, just because you or I dont agree with it doesnt mean the only possibility is that he's done wrong. This squad isnt supposed to be picked on big names, it's picked on form.

Obviously HBA is a damn-side better player, but what's with all the Sammy-hating on here recently? He wasn't particularly effective yesterday but he hasn't done anything wrong as far as I can see.

I dont hate Sammy but I think he's far too raw to be playing Premier League football. Needs a loan and isnt half the impact sub Ranger was.

Sammy is direct and will run at full backs with real pace as well as tracking back. On his last showing, Ben Arfa will stand about with his hands on his hips and only pass to Cabaye or lose the ball. He is undoubtedly the most talented player we have, but if he's not pulling his weight for the team then I can see why he would be dropped, his attitude has always been a major problem and is the reason we got one of the brighter stars of European football for peanuts. Sadly he misfires more often than not.

As for the talk of Pardew not playing Tevez or Mascherano, the situation is totally different. The situation there was political, there were major problems with third party ownership and the potential problems it would cause. He wasn't not playing them because he thought they were ****, Pardew may not be Mourinho but he's not a total idiot.

Very bad choice not to start him imo, he's fit again and he should play. But how he didn't come on in the second half is laughable, Pardew needs to sort his head out.

Which would make sense in some games, but on Saturday Swansea only had 1 shot at goal the entire game. It was one way traffic and needed a deeper lying forward to cause problems in front of their defence (which was staying deep and brickwalling the attack) and thus drawing them out from the edge of their 18 yard box.

If ever there was a game designed for Ben Arfa to make an impact, this was it.

To be fair Ryan Taylor deserved to keep his place. It seems insane to me that people are criticising Pards on this issue. Santon is carrying a nagging knee problem. Manager protects player, hardly ground breaking. I'd much rather have a world class Santon fit for the long term personally so I'm pleased Pards has looked after him.

As I've said on other threads I'd have used Benni against Norwich and Swansea, I thought those games were ideal for him. Not physical lower level sides. Howver there could be more to it and Pardew has to think about Demba's impending absence, Benni's fitness following a career threatening injury. He has to throw many things into the melting pot when makng decisions.

My new theory is that HBA is being fully rested for the West Brom game as it's so close together. He's not going to make the mistake of giving players too much to handle this time, so he's set out a definitive rotation of who will start each game to keep the players fresh.

Pardew said it was purely tactical why he didnt bring on HBA in a game that was against a team that defended so deep that they weren't really intersted in scoring themselves, and were all set up for a point, in which we struggled to open them up so a creative 'maverick' type player was exactly what we needed............Nope, i'm confused.

Their was no space and pockets. So therefore we needed to create space and pockets. So Ben Arfa isn't that type of player?

Pardew - Total failure. Cant believe my eyes with this explanation. Im actually in shock.
