Derry for Barton. I would much prefer someone playing for us who gives a shi t.

For SWP - DJ, Smith, Taarabt - take your pick.

I dont think anyone thought that but the problems we see now were there at the end of last season and for all the talk we still look at times like a disorganised rabble but with higher paid players.

I have to say that all week i thought we could get something today if we played with the same intensity that we showed against Chelsea, City, Newcastle, Spurs (2nd half) but for some reason it just wasn't there.

This was really the 1 chance we had to take some points off Utd for the next 10 years because they will only get better, that Jones lad is some player, how many times did he get beyond the strikers compared to our midfield? Rooney for all his faults was given the freedom of LR to basically do as he wanted, Valencia caused havoc whenever he got the ball. Basically IMO we were in awe of them for some reason and gave too much respect , it was always going to be difficult and conceeding within a minute didn't help, but we didn't help ourselves by being far too respectful.

Wednesday is now a must win but team selection must be right, 4-2-3-1 anyone? 442 has not worked as it is too rigid, we need fluidity, give Tabs 90 mins and let him open up the Sunderland back 4, get the ball in behind the defence, it didn't happen once today, play with more pace and give it a real go, we need these points.

Barton just doesnt fit..He is so overrated. How many miss placed passes(including the one that led to the goal!). What amazes me is how Mackie gets no critisizm?. He is not very good,no pace,no goals..just puts his head down and runs!. Please dont tell me thats he 'works hard' or 'puts in a shift!'..

I cry a little inside every time i see Mackie's name ahead of Taarabt's on the teamsheet. Whether he's leaving us in January or not, Adel needs to play every game. It came as no surprise that we suddenly looked a little more creative and forward-thinking as soon as he stepped on the pitch.

Nice to read so many posts that can now see ... We need however to move forward together and Barton will hopefully learn from this . I hope he wakes up now as he was cruising .
Don't get sucked in by his tweets today it clearly shows his true selfish self

    Evening DT,
    well said.
In the corresponding fixture last year we lost 1-3 at home to Watford, and played awful.
Today I watched the quality of Rooney, Nani, Jones etc in the flesh.
    Different class.
Other than the goal, I thought we did alright first half.
    Second half not so good.
We lost to one of the best teams in the world today,
I know which game I'd rather spend my hard earned on.

Col, when we signed Barton i was genuinely delighted. I thought he would bring energy and drive to our midfield. I could put up with his sometimes embarassing rants on twitter and in the media if he was producing on the pitch. NW proclaimed him as one of the best midfielders in the Prem. But he has constantly under performed and we are now half way into the season. In my book, a captain leads by example. Barton is not playing well enough to retain his place in the team let alone set an example for others. His passing is sloppy and i really can't remember when he put in a bone crunching tackle to get the players and fans going. IMO his heart is obviously not with us. NW has a big decision to make. There is no doubt that barton has talent, but if he does not start producing rapidly then he must be dropped. Derry always gave 100%, i might be old fashioned in my views but i like my sportsmen to earn their huge pay packets and right now, Barton has been measured, weighed and found wanting.

Yes your right stone the ****er to death today and once we have thrown some tar & feathers over the corpse we can hang him on Shepherds Bush Green before we tie him to 4 horses to draw and quarter the ******.

C'mon boys lets go and brand the **** as well; this is really making he salivate. :bandit:

I certainly am not advocating the sacking of NW!! No way!! I simply am questioning some of his decisions! He has to be given more time to prove himself at this level...for me. the jury is out.

Thats the problem with this board guys, you are not allowed to express an opinion. with some people jumping down your throat or just concentrating on individual words. NW is a legend. But, he is not beyond reproach. Nobody is. People on this board are entitled to voice their opinion and ask certain questions. Nobody has been calling for NWs head, That would be stupid. All people are doing is asking legitimate questions.

Finally got into a massive debate RE: Barton and Phillips....both need the adel treatment Barton has been shocking...his 40 yard cross feild pass to no one is not going to win us games. He also makes the wrong choices time and time again... yesterday 30 yards out 2-0 down he tries a stupid little chip to the back post, then with two mins left he underhits a square ball....

As for SWP less said about him the better...yes bothroyd was poor yesterday but no worse then SWP has been for the last 4-5 games. Were just not good enough...lets face it the untouchables in the team are just not good enough. Does barton create to friction within the team when playing central midfield?
