Had to buy three tickets in a row so me and a couple of mates could sit together for yesterdays match. Only ones available were right at the top ( Access17/T44) , at the back of the Gallowgate.
I'm not sure who else on Newcastle board sits there but one thing was really surprising.

You can't hear a thing from anywhere else in the stadium. Whilst there were plenty of lads starting chants, inevitably they petered out. It all sounded local to a few rows around where we were sitting.

Surely, one of the pleasures of singing/chanting at the match is hearing the whole ground joining in?

Not connected, but whoever designed the blokes loo needs shot with sh*t .:steam:

All seater ground = **** atmosphere for the majority of games. For the times I've gone to matches when back in the country, it was like visiting a funeral parlour in comparison to the way it used to be.

Gallowgate is getting gradually worse for sure. It's been very quiet this season

Just posted this on another thread:
"It was abysmal. I tried so many times to get the supporters round me, who are usually ok, to sing, but they were pathetic yesterday. One Speed chant, that was it. The Gallowgate end were too busy sipping hot chocolate out of flasks and snuggling into their seat warmers to actively engage in the match.

I'm sorry, but I enjoy the game a lot more when the people around me realise that chanting and atmosphere is part of the experience of being at a football ground. Many fo the people in the ground yesterday would have been better suited, I'm sure, to watching at home on a link or something.

Very poor performance by the crowd, I'd rate us lower than Obertan's effort. At least he tried.

For those who say a team playing shocking is a suitable excuse for us to be withdrawn, f-off and watch F1. The crowd is supposed to lift the players, not flatline with them... Our away contingent is much better.

Too many middle-class morons, in my opinion.

To anybody on here attending the game on wednesday, buck your ideas up, or save yourself some money, don't buy more aero bubbly and watch online please!"

In a few games, when people can be bothered, the atmosphere near me has been good, if still nowhere near my level 7 year... But yesterday it was absolutely ridiculous. I did my part trying to start a few chants, and my girlfriend (who never ever joins in) decided to help me out for once because it was so bad. Literally silence.

There's a fine balance between having those who just want to watch the game, and have an atmosphere. I think you should be made to tick an extra box when you fill out ST forms, "do you sing or not?"...

Why don't we create a little section where the grumpy granny can sit and be perfectly quiet?

Me and my brother have tickets for the Man Utd game, Gallowgate stand upper, block R, Row F.

It won't be quiet then, I can guarantee it. <ok>

Hope not... But I have to ask, why are we allowed to harrass and curse players for playing better against bigger clubs than small teams, yet we as the crowd do exactly the same?

You're right, but I think someone said above, it's all seater stadiums have a lot to do with the atmosphere. (BTW, I thought it was the PFJ?)

Bitching about crowd atmosphere is pointless. If you don't like it where you are, just move. Can't do anything about it.

Yeah, essentially the joke is from 606, when people would reply to my rants using my username, I could go "f-off... JPF? I'm the PFJ..."

Move where? There is no place for good atmosphere at the ground anymore. The destruction of level 7 has made sure of that...
Bitching may be pointless, but it makes me feel better, and if there's a chance someone on here actually reads my comment and recognises in themselves that they're contributing to the problem, well then there may be a point after all. Sitting there in silence and letting it happen would just be ironic with regards my point, no? ;);)

I know what your getting at but there's really nothing anyone can do if people are t going to make a noise. I get home every week with a swore thought after a match, some people don't say anything at at a game. It's been a long time since the atmosphere at SJP was anything special. Arsenal and mackems last season were exceptions. It will happen in pockets though. When level 7 were going mental for 90 mins you won't be able to hear anything from the rest of the ground. I've been on the strawberry corner for years now and the noise there has improved drastically but when the whole corner goes in to voice, I struggle to here chants from other areas of the ground. It's the pocket of supporters where you sit that drown everything else out.

I know what we can do... Follow Ellington's (the sprinter) lead. Simply put Newcastle's atmosphere on ebay. With a reserve of £50,000, we will promise to get every single man woman and child completely drunk, and in return we will sing a sponsors name a couple of times...

    Sorted.

    Now to the middle east!!!
