A midfield of Crooks, Slater and Gyabi sends shivers down my spine and not in a good way. What does Gyabi do well? He’s immobile like Crooks but Crooks at least has a bit of technical ability. He’s just a big lump.

Time for Gyabi and Ndala to step up and for Joseph to have more impact in front of goal.

Crooks needs to be more influential anarl.

McBurnie on the bench, but he hasn't made an appearance yet. Is he really fit?

I think five at the back would have been a good idea with Belloumi in the attacking midfield. They bombed us out in the league cup

mike white said on Blunderside that McBurnie will be an active sub tonight. So, he might warm up tonight and have a chance of 20 mins at the end.

The calf injuries particularly. Can anyone remember the last time we had a calf injury before this season? They're not that common. But four players have had them now this season, two of them from being kicked? I have never heard of a kick causing a muscle tear before yet somehow it's all the rage in this team.

Especially with the size of Geldharts calves... I'm no expert (on much actually ha!!) but maybe when they get a kick adrenaline numbs the pain, they carry on and any bruising blood worsens with pushing it... all the same, I think we all agree, theres something the medical types are ****ing up on, not recognising etc..

Don’t mind the front 3 but the midfield is concerning unless Gyabi is playing higher up with Crooks alongside Slater.

There probably is a link between the playing style and the injuries. He said from day one we'd be physical and all-action. Teams like that often have a lot of injuries, Bielsa's Leeds being a famous example. Maybe it's a worthwhile trade-off since we are having a good season, but you wonder whether this rate of injuries is going to overcome us at some point.

That and the fact that our squad isn't allowing any form of rotation with the longer term injuries, tired muscles more susceptible etc

Picked up his third booking of the season on Saturday and will watch the game from the stands this evening, as he serves a one-game touchline ban

    Thoughts on the team news
No surprise that the gaffer has made a flurry of changes after what happened on Friday night, but one of those is enforced through Joe Gelhardt's injury. It's my understanding that he's set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with the calf injury he sustained against Boro. We won't see him this side of Christmas and probably for a bit after. Will get the full update from Sergej Jakirovic after the game.

Hope I'm proven wrong but I think I'd have gone 5 at the back for this one, let's hope Serj has called it right.
