Do germans talk about how good yorkshire puddings are?
Will that be a trial run Ernie?I went to 3 last week in Germany; Aachen, Cologne and Rüdesheim. All three make the wannabe British Christmas markets look totally pathetic, as indeed do all the German Christmas markets I've ever been to.
Want to go to the Nuremberg one, but it's not gonna be this year.
Whats edinburghs Christmas market like? Going up there next week.
And their one way walking system was ****e.Went with Mrs & family first couple of years, it was pretty decent - once it caught on it became horrendous; I'm really not surprised it was cancelled, any kind of incident that might cause a panic could easily have caused carnage, people really were packed that tightly together.
Went to one in Manchester a few years ago, needed a mortgage to pay for anything. I heartily dislike both Bratwurst and Gluhwein as well. Yes I know, I'm a miserable **** but I dislike being ripped off.
Not a fan of gluhvein, or glogg as it's called here, either... Take some wine, which is nice, then warm it up until it goes sickly and add nuts, raisins and cloves and serve in a plastic cup for 10 euro. No, thanks - a hideous invention that should have been turned back at the border.
Bratwurst - not terrible, but just a sausage.
There's a few miserable ****s on this thread.
Won't be needed for where I'm headed. The anecdote to Glühwein?
Hot Chocolate with Bailey's.
Which most Glühwein stalls sell.
It's what St. Peter dishes out at The Pearly Gates.*
*Only if it's mid-winter and cold, obviously.

York Christmas Market has been open since the second week in November.Looks like Leeds, York, Halifax and Sheffield are on after the 20th. Think that is the date you gave OM?

He'll more than likely be having toasted marshmallows where he's going Ernie.Carling Black Label?

Nah
Vodka Tea is your classic alternative (I found out in a Xmas market in Krakow…I also found out how pissed me and @askewshair get on eleventy seven vodka teas!!!)
I will be drinking Bacardi 8 for my festive tipple this year. No point in warming it up or adding anything to it especially ice.Nah

Well done, It's not like you to recognise the meaning of my post, now feck off, Peter Lorre. He'll more than likely be having toasted marshmallows where he's going Ernie.

More sort of spiced herbal tea/vodka comboI mean, it sounds very nice.
But it's not very Christmassy, is it?
It's basically just breakfast when you're at your lowest ebb.
I did one in Munich last year, or the year before I cannot remember. It was nice, I ate a lot of sausage and then went and got hammered in a pub on my own.If really want a good traditional Christmas market, then sadly the best options are abroad. Head to Nuremburg and go to the Christkindlesmarkt in the Hauptmarkt.
Maybe fly into Stuttgart and then hop on the train to Nuremburg, as flights into Nuremburg airport are pretty expensive due to all the bloody Christmas Markets being on![]()
