After all the corruption that surrounded FIFA with Blatter and Platini how the hell is this Cockwomble Infantino still in charge. As corrupt if not more so than the other 2.... About time UEFA told them enough is enough.. Without European Countries, FIFA wouldn't exist
i don’t get it either. The bloke is an absolutely rotten sycophant. Take out uefa and one other federations support, esp. LatAm, and Fifa is worthless He’s not just corrupt, he’s politicising the game and cosying up to the world’s ****bags. Another narcissistic creep
I am pretty sure Infantino still lives in the Middle East, in fact I seem to remember that he has a large house in Qatar which is fully serviced and his family are waited on hand and foot by gardeners and chefs and maids etc. he is afforded the best money can buy for him and his family all paid for by the Qatari government, of course he chose to live there and pays for everything . I am sure this story was around the Qatar world cup time or just before but apparently he had been living there for years before the world cup.
I read a story where is moron actually said he would give the world cup to Qatar all the time after what a great job they did last time.
https://www.arabnews.com/node/2008776/offbeat seems it was only on the build up to the world cup, but still leaves a bit of a sour taste.
I quite like Scotlands chances of getting out of their group. A good win against Haiti might even be enough. But a win first game and they can have a go in the next two games knowing a point may do them.
How apt that this 'prize' should resemble 'fright night' hands emerging to drag football even deeper into the mire ... ... absolute sickening.
Yeah it's been political for a while but this was on another level with Trump. Comes across as shameless arse kissing of one of the most dangerous men on the planet. And to top it off he gets an invented FIFA Peace Prize just to make sure he takes center stage. Give over, the absolute egotistical bell end. Wonder what Infantino got in return....
They have taken the World Cup from us. Played mostly in scorching heat, sometimes on temporary grass surfaces, sometimes even indoors, with thousands of miles of travel, moving between time zones, with appalling and biddable referees, with dodgy draws and loads of hopeless teams and yet again in the USA, because....well they want it. The Euros is not perfect, but it is wildly superior in every way to the World Cup.
On a purely footballing level it remains the greatest footballing tournament in the world for me. I adore it. I refuse to let anything outside spoil it for me. It is politicised but so is most things in life so I will save my angst for other campaigns. The last world cup produced football that was joyous to watch. Sensational games throughout and a pointy end that had everything. The Euros arent a patch on it in my opinion. They are an extension of the premier league or champions league where many games are more like chess matches and quite sterile. The European style of football is fine and elite etc, but it needs an alternative to make a match. It is why the final last time was so special imo. Or why Morocco made the semi finals. We need a World Cup to allow Brazil and Argentina to give EUFA a bloody nose once in a while. Nothing would please me more (apart from and England win) to see an African side win it. The colour, the passion, the fans and the atmosphere will all be there. The build up will be full of worry and doubt, and endless political arguments, as it has been the last 3 years. But when the games begin football will shine and we will be thoroughly absorbed in it. I will be anyway and I really cannot wait.
Fair enough, but that sounds a bit like the World Cup used to be! It's true that the Euros, at the business end of things resembles a ECL at a similar stage. But so does the World Cup now, as almost all of the players playing in the Semis and final will play in Europe at the top clubs. Morocco were a happy exception, but that's what they were. The worst ever World Cup was in South Africa, but this one coming up will take that mantle I believe. it will be hyped to the heavens, but the conditions and restrictions will make exciting football very hard to play. Spain should walk it in my view, possibly quite literally as by the semis, a lot of players will be out on their feet after a long season, then playing in mad broiling heat and travelling thousands of miles backwards and forwards. FIFA is now so utterly corrupt that it now affects the game itself IMO. A mate of mine put a whopping bet on an Argentina-France final last time out, before the draw was even made. I laughed at him, but he laughed last.
