Spending Christmas Day at Saxton’s would be worse. Imagine playing him at Trivial Pursuit.

Had a mince pie yesterday. A good one from a proper bakery. Let’s be honest and say they’re overrated. Not outright bad but too much hype.

I have a feeling the Man U v Newc U game will be good this year. I'm going for 3-3, though we used to make a habit of losing 4-3 on boxing day iirc so maybe that.

Late to this but I'd do the stocking myself. People cam have whatever habits and traditions they want, they don't have to be logical they only need to be consistent and what that family associates with Christmas. We've always done a stocking the kids cam open in the morning (all together with us) and then go for a walk Irrespective of the weather.

Most stuff then doesn't get opened until afternoon/evening or possibly the next day if we can't fit it in (my kids are pretty chill with this, their mother works some Christmases and a few years back we literally just left everything - stocking and all- until the 27th).

If you continue the habits I think they go from being magical to "uncool but begrudgingly appreciated" and finally to being the reason they'll drive to see you over Christmas when you're 70 as "that's what they always do". Family.

How old is he and do you have a younger kid who still believes?

May eldest is at that age where she will not believe next year, but would keep up for the youngest.

Clip round the ear and a satsuma when I were a lad and we had to shovel snow for that. Don’t know they’re ****ing born. We didn’t defeat Hitler for this.

Same as my eldest, tricky one then, especially without a younger one.

would make this the last one and then dish out a throat chop next year.

Hitched up to Newcastle for one Boxing Day match. 1988 I think, me and a mate.

Got there, three lifts later having spewed on the A1 after a swig from a can, got sorted for tickets by the local plod, watched us lose 1-0 to a Glen Roeder goal (rip), and hitched back again.

    Gazza was playing.

    Games gone since.

    Had a pretty successful weekend.

Bombed the work do out Friday, which was nice.

There are one or two people who would be going to that I'd rather eat a plate of my own ****e than socialise with.

Hoped to play golf yesterday, so gave my Swans ticket to my son's mate, but the weather was crap so I had the day/house to myself putting up the tee and lights and such stuff.
    All sorted.

Weather ****e again today so I've got the house to myself again as the women are off watching some film or other and my son's at work. Will try for nine holes prior to picking him up and have tea at the GC watching Super Sunday

Shame that's Fulham v Palace, but it could turn out a cracker.

How **** are Christmas markets? Not even Winter Wonderland which is the ultimate Christmas ****fest but just your average city Christmas market. Ooooh mulled wine and a German hot dog made by a bloke from Bromley while we hope we don’t get blown up. **** off.
