Xabi under pressure in spain for being top 2 and bad run of form. Be interesting to see if they approach him since was 1st choice.
Heard plenty of rumours about Klopp and Gerrard until the end of the season, then Nagelsmann after the WC, when he'll swap jobs with Klopp. But that's just wishful thinking. One thing is for sure, though, atm, even with a two-goal lead, you just never feel we have full control of any game. But, 3 new centre-backs apart, I just don't get that these players aren't good enough - they just have no energy or stamina in them, and everyone knows it. Their psyche is shot. Though this goes back to the Spring, not just this season. The fact that the players went on a month's bender after winning the title and were **** for the last four games masks another inconvenient truth - we were, the Newcastle at home and City away games apart, turgid, slow, dross from about March onwards. This isn't mainly about the new players (though only one of them has cut the mustard so far), it's about the established players, Szobbo and Gravy excluded, who just haven't put a shift in for Slot for 9 months. Anything but an impossible win on Tuesday, and Slot doesn't get to see Christmas. It probably means we won't be panacea buying in January either, as any replacement won't be here until the summer, and we won't be blowing another £200m net on a caretaker manager. Ah, well - it was worth it all the get no 20. But it means we'll be struggling to even make the Europy League next season. Good job we bought all those players when we were on a high, I suppose.
Remote possibility he'd come next summer, but not unless he was insanely sacked by Real whilst Real are still in the CL and pretty certain to make the last 16.
Klopp will simply not happen. Not least because he and Edwards could not work together previously. There are many other reasons. Gerrard….just no. Alonso will depend on the Madrid trophy haul at the end of the season. So nothing sooner. Several international coaches could become free after the World Cup but nearly none of interest available now….unless Tuchel could be persuaded to do a dual role but I doubt the FA would sanction it. Or unless one of the other available coaches would see the opportunity and jump ship before the WC, though I doubt it just as much as I really doubt that Edwards would allow a big name with more power at the club. In short, while Slot has completely lost the plot, our options to replace him right now are very limited indeed. FSG have some very difficult decisions to make. I hope they make the right ones!
Pleased salah kicked off. Gives is something to talk about rather than just whimpering softly every time we conced. But in my mind it's fairly obvious. Mo you've been **** for months, how about rather than moaning about not having a relationship with the coach, you try to restore your relationship with the ****ing ball. I reserve the right to happily change my mind and he ****s off to Africa and becomes a world beater again. In which case it's all slots fault again.
I can’t see them sacking him just yet. Unless we continue to not win games into January and then he’ll probably be an interim manager until the end of the season. It seems Nagalsman is a first fav of the club and after the WC, him and Poch could be available and think both would be a good fit for the club. Both very good with young players
I wonder. Is it possible that slot was always looked at as a stop gap. Not really who we want, but he will do for a couple of years. Alot of coaches tied up in national teams that will become free?
I can’t see that. I also worry that a bigger name will demand more say on everything and that Edwards will not allow it. I accept that I am being a tad paranoid
Just idle thought. But we definitely wanted alonso rather than slot. Maybe naglesman was also on the radar, but tied up? But then why spend £450 mill on players for someone you're not sure on? **** me I've talked myself out of it
I am sure that Slot had a voice on transfers but with the revelation that he did t want to lose Diaz leaking, I am also sure that he only had a small, passing voice on the recruitment.
Pretty ****ty of Salah to come out with those comments isn't it? Very much comes across to me about him thinking he's bigger than the club. The line about not needing to fight for his place or something to that effect surely must set alarm bells ringing? Probably hastens Slot's demise though.
he thinks that he’s ’earned his place’ reality is that nobody has done that this year. Footballers egos eh!
Yes, he said he had earned his place. You earn that place each week on the pitch. No matter what you've done in the past it's never automatically yours.
I think he’s saying he expected to be backed to improve given he won everything last year, and then goes on to list examples of other players in this situation and how he’s been scapegoated by the media. He’s done what he’s done now and that can’t be taken back, he’s a winner who is hurting but obviously this isn’t the correct way to do things. Maybe we are actively trying to get rid of him and he thinks that’s outrageous (and it would be)
Ultimately, he’s sat on the bench watching others fail without the punishment of being droppped ….so technically, he’s right imo. Still shouldn’t be voiced like that.
