Good thing for DRS. The Root decision was a bad enough decision, but that one on Brook was hideous. And now another review.
The difference between Boland's first innings career stats, and second innings, is quite amazing. He must be one of the best second innings bowlers in history, statistically.
The team sadly is just a team of underperforming one day players. We’ve been poor at one day cricket for a while now and it’s carried into test cricket and only Root can bat like a test player sadly.
May as well give the Aussies the Urn tonight. At least then the England Team can have the rest of the time to play their favourite game. GOLF
I’m not that emotionally invested in the cricket, but given the high hopes of the England fans, this might just be more crushing than anything we generally suffer The Aussies might actually be disappointed that we are sooooo awful
So disappointing. We’re playing a team short of a few of their best bowlers, on their pitch and we are horrendous.
Might have to consider the point of The Ashes soon, it's not even competitive anymore. Australia are not even at their best and it is comfortable for them. England have lost in five days of cricket! I hope the Barny Army give the team some abuse for the lack of concentration and determination.
Australia, and South África in India a few weeks ago, showing us how Test cricket should be played out.
Was listening to TMS and tow interviews were telling. Firstly Marcus Trescothick who said predation for this series was good and had can to plan. The guy and mgmt team are in complete denial the ****ed things up with their arrogance. I do find it strange that Marcus is 1st coach on this tour but could not handle it as a player. Secondly, they interviewed an Aussie bowler. He said the plan is to put the ball in a place outside off stump and they not England will go after it and wickets will come. So simple, strange how England don't get it.
Outside of the fielding / bowling pretty much every Aussie player is contributing with the bat and ours are not. England 1st Test: 13 / 22 players less than 20 runs (most actually 0 or single digits) England 2nd Test: 11 / 19 (so far) players less than 20 runs again with zeros. Root isn't going to win the matches on his own and he's also been a culprit of the low scores too.
In the first innings England had 4 ducks, in the Ausdie innings every player got 13 or more. Is that desire or preparation. England performance is woeful apparently against the worst Aussie team for ages, with bowlers with 1000 test wickets unavailable for this test .
I’d say a bit of both. You have to deliver on both halves of the game to win and we just aren’t consistently good enough with the bat across the top order and that puts too much pressure on the fielding side and then every drop or poor over hits harder. we should have played more games in the same conditions in the run up to the tests but the number of ducks is taking us out of the game
