well while i sort of agree i'm fairly sure he isn't completely responsible for the continual defensive **** ups apart from the fact he keeps picking Konate .

The really irritating thing is some of our attacking play was class particularly the 3rd goal but didn't think for one minute that was it game over

 

I’ve liked Slot and he came across well last season - obviously helps when you’re winning.

But he needs to stop talking about how we are conceding goals without other team having chances. As it’s just nonsense.

Hes saying it like we’ve been unlucky to concede these goals, but if it’s happening over 10/15 games then it’s not unlucky. It’s just poor

 

Oh I agree... Players sense an issue then hide, try to avoid blame knowing they're probably more likely to be there next year than the manager...

I actually thought bar the odd player performance we already know about... Thought we played much better today, largely because Jones started in good form and Ekkie was Ekkie... That with Kerkez and Wirtz continuing to look better. Connor gave us width... All good without being great which is fine...

I think he's responsible defensively because he has never decided what works...he can't do Klopp high press because he 1) doesn't have players and 2) won't pick even the players that could make a good go of it.

But yet he sets up to expose the back 4 every time... A back four he sticks any warm body in like he thinks it doesn't really matter.

His back up plan is... We don't really need a midfield.

Would get you sacked at any team not just made champions .

 

Said this a good few games back, he must actually think everything’s cool - just not getting the rub of the green. And that could not be further from the truth, it’s utter delusion.

I believe that conceding that corner today means we are the worst team at defending set pieces in the league… take that in for a minute, and then ask - what the **** have we done through the MONTHS it’s been going on to rectify it?

All just bad luck eh.

There is an irony in that first year FSG actually get a "coach" , get Richard and after doing their thing splash the cash it's gone horribly wrong so far.

Dunno what to be more afraid of... That FSG won't spend over 20 mil again or will go cocaine mental and spend another 500 mill in summer to prove Slots the man

 

I didn't see the game but kept checking the score and each time we were up I thought, that's it, we're winning this. 2-0 felt like it would turn into 3-0. Checking back i wasn't expecting to see 2-2 and at 2-3 I thought this will go down as a hard fought win. Obviously the final result says it wasn't a hard fought win.

Missing out on actually watching the game means you don't have all the various scenarios whizzing around in your head for hours and can just take the result and move on.

Without seeing the game and coming to a conclusion based on the result alone, all I can say about what's happening is it's bizarre.

As long as we buy some new defenders and a DM, then things might work out. But I don't trust Hughes and then Slot to get it right.

I thought we were cruising until Konate's needless "challenge" for the penalty; that brought unnecessary pressure and nerves on the team and we suffered the consequences. Yes, we retained the lead but I'm certain we'd have seen the game home if that penalty hasn't been conceded. Its, buts and maybe though innit...

On another note, after going 3-2 up, Slot killed us with his changes. Took the attacker players off leaving just Isak (who runs as much as a dried up teabag) to shut up shop and invited pressure. It was inevitable...

 

I watch other teams and they have CB's and CM's crunching into tackles and flinging themselves in front of shots, when the opposition are attacking.

We have the CM's that let them run through the center and then VvD turning his back on every long range shot.

 

We're going to have to splash more anyway. Konate is fecking useless and probably won't sign a new contract anyway. Virgil is past it and needs replacing.

 

I pray I have to eat large amounts of humble pie....
