Having had a few hours to digest and calm down, I don't think we can blame the manager for everything. It's not his fault Winks falls on his arse in the first minute. He only arrived with two weeks to go and has yet to have a window to get rid of deadwood and bring in his players. We all know this decline has been coming since Rodgers last season and it's very hard to stop. Maresca still had a great squad but the best of them also left and then the buying under Cooper was dire. This requires a total rebuild and I'm undecided if this would be better without King Power. If we can get away with a six-point deduction and have a good January window I see Cifuentes turning this around.
When is the decision on a potential points deduction going to be made? Imposing one part way through the season seems ridiculous and based on how many points need to be deducted to have the effect the ruling board want, rather than a pre-determined and consistent penalty system. Surely nothing happening this season should affect the decision?
Who were those imposters playing for us today? Goes to show that if we actually apply ourselves and show some desire we can give anyone a game in this league. The standard isn’t great in the championship this season so we need to use this as a springboard and make sure we don’t let the standards drop for the Bristol City game next up. Hopefully this isn’t a false dawn, we’ll see.
