I'm nearly certain that he'll end up on the club leadership group. He loves it here, he's already involved talking to the younger players and his work on player mental health etc
I'd bet money he wrote that himself as well (unlike most professional sportsmen's social media posts thes days), that's from the heart. Absolutely love Luke, me. Imagine we establish ourselves as top half Prem team and become one of the top clubs in England, ever-present in the Prem... Years from now, Luke can look at our club and say "I got them there". Amazing. Will go down as one of our best ever servants, imo.
I'm not saying it's his ceiling because he's a hard player to predict, but it's possible he could be most useful at this level in the role he did against Liverpool. Come on later in the game to disrupt play, man mark key players. He is very good at that and he's got the ability to play a quality pass if there's a break on.
Can you imagine. How much would that mean to him. However, come to think of it, how many times has it been said how much of a positive impact some fringe players have as being motivational characters in the dressing room. Scott Carson and Connor Coady spring to mind. Make it happen Luke.
Gutted for him today he didn’t deserve that it’s a poor challenge but there’s no malice in it and very little contact! Everything looks worse slowed down and freeze framed like that! If they took the time to properly look at (or if he was wearing red and white) the Gvardiol challenge it would have been the same outcome!
I totally agree with you the Gvardiol tackle was just as bad as O’Nien’s and i reckon the rain sodden pitch played a part as he appeared to lose his footing , it was still a stupid tackle to make at that stage of the match and we now lose him for three games .
After all the nervousness of Xhaka and Sadiki getting yellow cards, I never expected we'd be missing Luke for the mags match!
Even when O'Nien gets something wrong, he is helping his teammates out. Look lads... this is how you don't tackle.
Luke’s off the pitch contribution is massive for the club, he will have put his arm around a few of the young lads and made them welcome and helped them settle in, it’s reflected with performances on the pitch. He’s not stupid and will have known he wasn’t going to play much, silly tackle yesterday but shouldn’t be used to beat the lad with. I have no doubt he has contributed to this seasons success so far and long may it continue
Feel sorry for Luke missing playing in the upcoming derby but there’s more to come. By the way, I think Luke is the only player to be red carded in all 4 divisions. Another record for us. A quiz question. Don't know if he was ever sent off in his pre league times.
