What in the everloving **** are FIFA playing at? The "peace award?" Who were the other nominees, Robert Mugabe and Fred West? What happened to "we need to keep politics out of football"? The same people who bitched about rainbow laces and taking a knee seem fine with a person who bombed Iran and uses civilian fisherman to recreate Pearl Harbour getting a made up award for peace at an event where two of the countries in the draw aren't even allowed into the USA because they're on the leader's "sorry, you can't come in" list. What an odd timeline we've found ourselves in. A sycophantic disgrace to football if ever there was one.
Or, third option and the most obvious, how about don't give it to any war criminals who should be rotting in prison and give it to somebody who is an actual advocate and icon for peace?
They only made this award after trump didnt get nobel peace prize It didnt exist a month ago It was made for one man Infantino really is pathetic
Exactly, if the first response to criticism of this is "oH bUt ObAmA", what the **** are you even doing?! Haiti and Iran are currently on the USA's "no visa" list, which means that not only can their fans not get in, but neither can the players or staff (assuming they are from those nations). So, of course they reward the man who signed that off with a big gold award, just a sign of what a dumpster fire the USA is at the moment. Should have the tournament stripped and given to just Canada and Mexico.
Apparently Steven, the fans of those Countries aren't allowed in but the team and all essential personnel are allowed in.
I just called Obama a war criminal and said he should be rotting in prison. That was today, scroll up. In any event, Obama has nothing to do with this; we're talking about an award FIFA made up to honour somebody who, on the list of people who represent world peace, wouldn't even make the top 6 billion on the planet. No other president was up for it, so it's just a strawman. And to then grant this imaginary award at a ceremony that is supposed to be about football, with him giddily smiling as if it actually mattered and meant something ("for ending war" - he hasn't ended any wars himself, he lied to get out of serving for one, but he hasn't ended Ukraine/Russia and the state of Israel is still killing Palestinians every day), isn't just bad optics, it's pathetic. TDS is suffered by his voters, not by his critics. I've noticed that line pops out when people take those criticisms personally, usually because it reflects on them as people. It's not an effective shutdown to the conversation when people are just pointing out the facts, low hanging fruit as it often is with that guy.
