    Possibly. I'd argue a break might benefit European sides playing in sweltering heat though.

    So if we win our group, we get a third place side in the L32, and then (in theory) the winner of group A in the L16. And group A is Mexico's group, so lacks a big hitter.

    On the nine major sides in pot 1, four of them will get to avoid a fellow group winner in the L16, whilst three more of them will get the group winners from the Mexico/USA/Canada groups.

    That leaves two remaining major sides in pot 1. And the unlucky two are...and a potential L16 tie...France vs Germany.
