I expect that every CEO of every Proffesional Club in the World would LIKE his Club to be The World's best Club.

But the sensible ones try not to get their Fans to have exagerated expectations, because they just MIGHT expect them to be fulfilled, then blame the CEO when they are not.

Apparently the stadium and training ground scenarios have nothing to do with the club being the biggest one in the world by 2030!

Spend time with Newcastle United’s new chief executive David Hopkinson and one thing becomes clear, even beyond his undiluted North American ambition - he is here to build revenues, not stadiums.

The logic of some predecessors in senior office was that you cannot maximise the former without the latter, but Hopkinson thinks differently.

    ………

Hello, sadly I know a lot more about SJP than the ongoing SOL plans because of Mag family connections on the Council and with the Freemen of Newcastle. A poster from here knows about the SOL plans so he’ll hopefully post when he’s able.

I was looking at Google Maps last evening and trying to figure out the NUFC/PIF sub-plot because what’s been ‘ announced’ doesn’t tally with reality … so there’s clearly a degree of subterfuge.

To keep it brief PIF have realised they can’t bully or bribe their way out of the problem so they’ve brought in this new CEO to find ways of putting pressure on the government, council, Mayor, etc. In the smallest nutshell possible it currently boils down to the following in my opinion …

… Saudi were allowed to buy NUFC after Boris Johnson intervened and the PL were given ‘legally binding assurances’ which are actually fake. So the owners are actually the Saudi state fronted by PIF who act for, and are financed by, Saudi. Unfortunately, for PIF, Labour ousted Johnson so they can no longer rely on his greed and support.

So PIF have started courting the NE mayor, Kim McGuinness, who’s Labour but, in my opinion, primarily concerned with Newcastle and not sufficiently the whole of the NE. She’s involved with various ‘initiatives’ including the regeneration of the NE ’for the benefit of the whole region’ … now where have we heard that before.

She’s been talking to the Labour Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Lisa Nandy, who’s involved with plans to shift Old Trafford which would ‘be a world class stadium for Manchester, regenerate the area and provide sports & leisure facilities, jobs, business opportunities, etc.’ Government money would be provided and help given to push the project forward at speed’ … all this sounds eerily familiar doesn’t it.

But there are also big differences which is causing major problems for the Saudi plans. Unlike United they don’t own the land the current stadium occupies and don’t own the land for the new one. United can easily continue to play at Old Trafford while ‘Mark 2’ is built, ground sharing for NUFC would be disaster unless Boro oblige.

The plans put forward by PIF, for Leazes Park, are a massive red herring. It’s a Grade Two listed park, in a protected conservation area, and the locals easily and quickly produced a 30,000 name petition when it was so much as mentioned. Apart from the park, wildlife habitat, sports facilities, etc, it has listed buildings to consider.

They’d need the whole of Leazes Park that dwarfs the current SJP and is about four times the size. Using the park would mean ‘moving’ the lake, hundreds of trees, wildlife habitats, etc. That’s a legal requirement and would be a massive undertaking if it was allowed … I don’t believe it’s possible tbh.

Nevertheless we know the Newcastle mayor and Lisa Nandy are talking to the Saudis and somewhere, behind the scenes, are the sly and shady Rueben brothers who aren’t involved for their love of football.

I haven’t figured out what the real plan is but none of what's been proposed is the reality. What’s clear is that it’s totally impossible to turn SJP into a top class, let alone world class, stadium. The confines of the land, and surrounding area, make it totally impossible.

My guess, and other people’s, is that they're playing a protracted blame game that will end up with the Mags claiming they never wanted to leave SJP and love the bodge and tarting up they’ve been left with.

Jesus that was an embarrassing read, I actually burst out laughing a couple of times.

I’ve been through this journey before,’ he said. ‘I’ve done it with a total under-performer, and that’s definitely not what Newcastle is. Newcastle is already good. I’ve worked at a club that was really bad. In 2014, we lost just about as bad as you can. In 2019, we were having a parade.
Talk about trying to dig yourself out of a hole

The NE Mayor situation is a small fly in the ointment that keeps coming to the top of the jar.

I really hope this doesn't become an issue, with the government involved, but Newcastle is the centre of the world for some people.

The 'cheat code' we have is that none of these people are smarter than KLD and I'm sure Sunderland's wishes and expectations are being properly represented.

I just had a quick look at the legal aspects of 'moving Leazes Park' to somewhere else and it's virtually impossible under the new legislation.

It would take an act of Parliament to reverse it which won't happen for years.

"Biodiversity law in England is primarily driven by the Environment Act 2021, mandating a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) for most new developments since February 2024, requiring habitats to be left better off. This law means developers must create or enhance habitats on-site or purchase credits to achieve this gain over 30 years, alongside a broader duty for public bodies to conserve biodiversity, all part of the UK's strategy for nature recovery."

I've always thought this is all a smokescreen to put pressure on regarding Leazes Park so the council/etc fold and allow the Town Moor to be used. That would still be my best guess as it eliminates all of the issues around Leazes Park. The Town Moor could be enhanced and objections easier to deal with.

Produced by a Newcastle fan with an obvious bias but this video does have information which confirms what @Smug in Boots previously posted:

SAFC were incredibly lucky to find land available, near the City Centre, when looking to replace our old home.
But first consideration was an 'out of town location', and in the absence of any alternative, this would seem the only option for NUFC.

As to where, I have no idea.
I don't know the area well enough.
I assume that most of the old Shipyard are now housing estatates, but Land was found for The Metro Centre and for Kingston Park.

I fear a few relevant personnel will have their bank balances substantially increased and this will be pushed through. I hope I am totally wrong on this.

Watched that yesterday, a good reason why they have very little chance of building it there.

My thoughts with the Saudi’s, if they were that into the mags as suggested, surely a new state of the art training ground would have been well underway now instead of a lick of paint that’s been given? Also this new bloke saying to be no1 in the world in 5 years, city have had billions pumped into them and are not even in the top 3 in England never mind the world, he fits them perfectly……delusional.

Problem for Newcastle is that the Saudi's are cutting back on many major projects including the flagship project the line. NUFC will just be another pif investment to make a profit on or most likely sold if not making money which most football clubs don't.

after the last attempt which failed miserably even with the 'jordy nashun' man pushing it i feel this is the only way it will be done, unfortunately the owners have money to do it...the only real question is whether they want to spend that much.

The Saudis will buy the influence of any PM or minister here.
But it will come down to either staying in a Hotch Potch with a paint job, or moving out of town.
If it was the latter it would have been half built by now.
    They're staying IMO

According to similar vlogs, etc, on Man Utd, they're saying five years minimum to build the new Old Trafford and have the infrastructure in place.

They already own the building land and can also sell the site they're currently on.

There's not a chance of achieving what this fella is claiming but, then again, his chances of lasting five years are virtually zero.

. This law will certainly hamper or completely hamper any prospect of building on the park.

It's actually stopping or slowing down the building of anything and everything. It has colossal power.
