Only marriage ... me and the 'missus' have been together over 30 years now, but we're not married ... but will probably be shortly ... because we are still so madly in love ... or possibly to avoid Inheritance Tax when we pop ... it's one of the two
Did the annual lugging the ****ing tree half a mile uphill because we have to have a real one every year for absolutely no reason. Bonus points to her for faffing around just long enough choosing decorations to make the walk back in pissing rain.
Ours has been in the car port for two weeks because she got it half price. Still there, in a bowl of water. Probably start shedding as soon as I bring it in. Think I'll put it up on Sunday. About to lug all the decorations down from the top floor, so she can do all that on Friday when I'm out on work do (*). I do the tree and lights. *work do Friday. I said I'd go back in May, but now can't be arsed. Same story every year, when it looms it just sounds like a **** night. Last year there was storm Darragh, which meant I could **** off home at 10.30 before it fully hit. Need an excuse to bail this year.
This year, for once in my life, was sensible enough to leave the stand thingy, where I could reach it in the shed - rather than being out there in freezing weather trying to locate the thing somewhere under / behind all the summer crap I've piled in there!
Think I'll get the tree this weekend. Pretty organised as usual, I pick away at it from October onwards instead of the big panic.
Have got a family funeral coming up, brother of ma in law, so essentially uncle in law to me, actual uncle to Mrs and great uncle to the kids. My bro in law and nephews live away, so are now coming home for this and will be around at Christmas, when we thought they wouldn't be. I think, therefore, that Christmas should this year be at theirs, as this is an extra four people. More space than anything, I'm not a tight ****er at all so the extra mouths to feed is not an issue, but the in laws have had an extension and so have a huge kitchen and dining room, we don't. Mrs wants it at ours because all the kids will want to come up ours after, for Xbox etc. Which I don't see as a problem personally, we live just round the corner. Gives everyone loads more chill space from each other as well. Plus, Boxing Day is then at ours, not theirs, so I can stick United v Newcastle on. They don't have Sky ffs.
