Now that's out of the way it's vital England are still batting at the close of play. Want to be batting as much of the first session tomorrow as possible.
No chance. Like with Brooks and Jacks England just wild swing at anything - it's so frustrating how often they get out to a nothing ball.
That is a debatable claim. In terms of terms of test runs yes, that may not make him the best. How about players like Sutcliffe, Ken Barrington and wally Hammond who all averaged close to 60 playing on uncovered pitches, more often that not against tough opposition. They did not have the benefit of easy runs from Zimbabwe, current Wst Undies etc. Root is certainly up there, but to claim he is the best batsmen with no doubt, does not pay respect to the long history of English Test cricket and wonderful batsmen
Brain dead batting again by England. Best batsman in the world, 100 not out at the other end and they play shots like they are.
He's on track to overtake Tendulkar's records. No debate about it for me. He's going to go down as one of the greatest test match batsmen ever.
Happy enough with that. Really glad Stokes didn't declare. That last wicket stand will have thoroughly irritated Australia.
Yes, I slagged off players for some woeful shots but Root, Crawley and Archer have given us a competitive score.
