Well done Joseph..... holding the innings together.... Now, next question.... what's a decent score on this pitch? Anything over 300 gives England something to bowl at....
England's lower order batsmen must have a collective lack of brain cells..... Atkinson and Carse are both competent batsmen, yet try to flash a few quick runs when they have Root at the other end on 100+, why not simply support him, nurdle the ball around picking up 1's & 2's and let Root do the majority of the scoring....
Full-on Bazball now. Pile on a few runs, or get the Aussies batting tonight - although not much time left for that now.
Too late to get them in now. We need to just see out the day now and have some more fun in the morning.
Crawley, Root and Archer dig their mates out of a hole. Most of the batsmen should be ashamed of themselves. Interesting match now.
Well that was a fun last 40 minutes or so, if totally unexpected.... 61 added for the last wicket and hopefully more to come in the morning.... well done J & J ensuring that the Aussies have to do some fielding in the morning.... keep them out there for an hour or so and England should be in a strong position.....
Aussies only bowled 74 overs.... 16 short in the day..... must be a fine incoming for that..... Maybe there should be a run fine for every over short in the day, based on scoring rate, today SR 4 an over, so 64 should be added to score..... it'll never catch on, but at least it would ensure 90 overs on the day....
The longer we manage to stay out there in the morning, the longer they will have to bat in the dark. Another 20 or 30 runs would be brilliant.
Well done to Root, England need another 3 or 4 like him. It seems good quality batsmen are a rarity. Always felt Root was more comfortable being a batsman, not a captain. He didn’t need that pressure.
Excellent innings from Root. About time we saw him play here the way his record suggests he should. Seems a nice guy. Well done to him. I think that 350 was about par for this wicket but you never know until both teams have batted.
