Fantastic. Imagine being told that at the start of the season? Of course it means very little at this stage but it shows how well we’ve done, they’re a CL side.

The worry is though, it’ll be bad enough if they win , but if it meant it takes them above us , we’ll get all the “ putting us back in our place” etc

It's only a worry if these players allow Newcastle to beat them, I honestly can't see that happening.

The crowd, players and manager are so 'together' now that I think Newcastle will find their trip a totally different experience to the last time.

They arrived at a stadium in gloom with dispirited players and a hated manager not to mention a big away following.

And this time they'll have around 1,800 actual supporters and no free scarves to twirl around.

Of course Newcastle should beat a newly promoted team like Sunderland but so should Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool ...

... they have Europe on their mind, you can see it in their players when they're up against 'small teams' like Brentford.

    I'm not worried.

Reassuring words Smug- our players need not fear them per say. They will be up for it though, Dan Burn recently wasn't the first mag player in interview before a Europe game say ' it's easy for us to be up for games like this- we need to have the same for league games'' . I'm sure because of the safc hatred they indoctrinate amongst themselves ( in order to gain favour with the supporters and maybe be given the adopted geordie status) they will regard going for a result against us as more important than even Barcelona or Milan.
