got to be the pitch surely? Both teams strugglin on it if it’s not the pitch then the team batting 2nd usually show you how it should be done and make a decent score 2nd innings will reveal all
Partly the pitch. Partly that they’re all playing hit and rush cricket for Punjab Pirates for $$$$$ and the art of test cricket is being eroded. Bring back the days of openers scoring 73 from 289 balls.

The pitch is fast and bouncy, but true. As far as the Aussies are concerned, we just bowled very quick and they didn't cope. Not seen much of our innings, but suspect it was the usual gung ho bazball bollocks and we gave a few away, although it sounds like Mitchel Starc was also superb.

Crawley was set, then threw his away. Not good Harry Brook out, was expecting some big runs. The openers are hopeless, at least one will get a duck almost guaranteed.
196/4 isn’t bad going at all even if it could have been much better. Get 350 and we’re in a good place. Inevitably it’ll be about 280.
