A striking portrait of a beautifully decorated Indian Railways class WP steam locomotive Nr. 7557, in 1982. Locomotive Nr. 7557 was built in Canada in 1955/6, and was delivered new to India as part of an order for a total of 120 such locomotives from the Canadian Locomotive Company (manufacturer's numbers 2730–2849). Their road numbres were 7516 to 7635. An additional eighty WP locomotives were ordered from the same Canadian manufacturer already in 1949, bringing the combined total to 200 Canadian-built locomotives of this type in India. A total of 755 WPs were built between 1947 and 1967 in the USA, Poland, Austria, Canada and finally in India.
