Aye the lad who came in wasn’t terrible. I think the best thing I can say about Howe is he does really understand the big picture. We will be successful with him and will be very well set up for success when he leaves.

Got to be looking at the back 5 in January.

Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn (and Krafth Lacselles, Target) all need replacing in the not to distant future as all over 30 now or surplus to requirements. So that’s basically the reserve defenders now.

I’d like to get 1 or 2 in come the January window to start the ball rolling. We got Shahar, A.Murphy, Pivas etc who could replace Krath, Lacselles and Targett and see if any can force their way into the squad but personally I’d prefer some established names in the door to provide completion for the here and now and replace the old guard. If there was a GK up for grabs I’d have that as the priority but there’s been a bit of a merry go round for keepers this summer just gone so may have missed the boat…

He's just not as good as peeple think and the stats show it. He's a good player, but no better than Miley Guimareas or Joelinton.

Guimareas is our best player, he's got more to his game in every attribute except pace.

Stats can show whatever peeple want them to. He's a very good player. The peeple can go fuk themselves.

Unless you're comparing players stats in the same areas. There's also the fact we do better whne Tonali doenst start, but there's too many other changing variables to give a **** about that.

They're all good, but Guimareas is better.

Oooooof just watched the Paqueta red card from yesterday - that is ridiculously suspicious! 2 bookings for dissent in under a minute - a really bad look for a player who has just been under investigation for match fixing. Never seen anything so crazy in the EPL. TBH I wouldn't want the lad anywhere near the club now.

The game was 1-0, 82nd min - it's 100% a foul but maybe he's waving at Szoboslai to get up and get's incorrectly punished (I don't think so but could be) but then to get a yellow card for it you got to be more professional and shut up. To then carry on like he does, surely knowing what is going to happen if he keeps arguing and waving his arm, gesticulating at the ref is at best insane, at worst clear intent to get a second yellow with the clock running down. He's literally chasing the ref for 45 seconds...

Also just to mention how piss poor and weak Bowen, their captain, looks in the whole debacle - literally stood under a foot away for pretty much the entire thing and doesn't intervene - Alison (the Liverpool keeper) does more to try and get him away from the situation before he get's sent off.

Yes it looks dodgy as hell. He needs to be made an example of.

He’s a good player but is crazy at times.

Like a number of superb players - Olise, Huijsen, Pedro, Ekitike (begrudgingly) - that we’ve identified and missed out on, the owners did know he was the one early doors. I think we’d have done even better and have a considerably stronger squad if he’d said yes when we approached him.

Just out of interest, if we had our full squad available, which Villa players would you start ahead of ours in a combined first choice XI?

I can't think of many Villa players I'd regard as better than ours on a like for like basis. Obviously I have my Toon tinted glasses, so interested to see who you'd select.
