Proves it was the right decision not to award them the win.

That would have been better than making them replay it, although neither are great. The best option would be to play the remaining 10 minutes or whatever it was only. Not perfect, and youd have no fans there, but better than pretending 80 odd minutes of football never happened.

TBF it's very rare for a game to be abandoned so close to the end. If it was abandoned at HT for example, I don't think anyone would have complained about having to play the match again in full.

Well that entirely depends on the scoreline. Imagine our game at Charlton or Leicester got abandoned at ht.

Awarding them the win was the worst possible option imo.

Replaying the fairest option. Would support remaining time only but only if it could be done within 48-72 hours.

This. You can't declare a result after only 80 minutes played, even if someone is 3-0 up, let alone only 1-0. There was certainly an argument for playing the final 10 minutes though.

Not forgetting that in the first game, Ipswich were down to ten men. There's not absolute right answer but from Blackburn's perspective it must smart a tad

If Blackburn spent some money sorting the pitch out re drainage it'd probably rarely happen.

I agree, it wasn't unjust it was bad luck. You can't say on one hand it's pretending that the 80 minutes didn't happen but ignore that there was still 10 minutes left to play.
Being 1 up at 80 minutes doesn't mean you're going to win the game, even against 10 men. Ipswich might have even gone on to win that match.

Exactly. The whole beauty of football is anything can happen no matter how unlikely it seems at any moment.

At 80 minutes against Wrexham on the opening day I bet very few of the 29k Saints fans in attendance thought we might win the game.
