Good Morning. It's Wednesday 3rd December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Chasing pack odds drop off leaving Gary O'Neill clear favourite

The race for the next Leeds United manager has taken yet another dramatic turn, with Gary O’Neill still firmly out in front according to the bookmakers. The former Bournemouth and Wolves boss remains the clear favourite at EVENS, suggesting there’s a strong belief he could be the man to take the hot seat at Elland Road. What’s interesting, though, is how the odds for the chasing pack have shifted. Carlos Corberan – who knows Leeds well from his time as a coach under Marcelo Bielsa, has drifted out to 5/1, matching Mainz’s former boss Bo Svensson, who has been quietly linked in recent weeks.

Brendan Rodgers, meanwhile, sits at 6/1, a price that will raise eyebrows considering his Premier League pedigree and recent availability. For punters, these longer odds could present tempting value if O’Neill’s move stalls or negotiations break down. Leeds fans will be watching closely, knowing the club is at a crucial juncture and in need of a manager with both tactical nous and the ability to unite the dressing room. While O’Neill remains strong favourite, Daniel Farke still occupies the ER hot seat, but a bad result tonight could change all that!

Zsolt Low put forward as Farke successor

Leeds United’s minority owners, Red Bull, have reportedly put forward the name of highly-regarded coach Zsolt Low as a possible option should 49ers Enterprises decide to part ways with current manager Daniel Farke. The global energy drinks giant acquired roughly a 10% stake in the club during the summer of 2024, becoming a silent partner with no formal boardroom influence. However, thanks to the collaborative nature of their partnership with the majority owners, Leeds are allowed to tap into Red Bull’s extensive football network.

Low, 46, has great experienced within the Red Bull stable, having worked at both Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig. At Leipzig, he was assistant to Ralph Hasenhüttl during the club’s remarkable 2016/17 Bundesliga campaign, which saw them finish as runners-up. His reputation grew further through spells working alongside Thomas Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and most recently Bayern Munich. The pair’s professional paths diverged following Tuchel’s departure from Bayern, after which Low took on the role of interim head coach at Leipzig from March 2025 until the end of the season.

Stats paints a gloomy picture of Farke PL record

Daniel Farke’s Premier League record has hit an unwelcome milestone, with LUFCDATA revealing he now holds the lowest points-per-game ratio of any Leeds United manager or coach to have overseen at least five matches in the competition! His current return stands at just 0.92 points per game in the top flight, putting him bottom of the club’s historical rankings. The next poorest records belong to Eddie Gray, who managed one point per game during the doomed 2003/04 relegation season, and Javi Gracia, who matched Gray’s figure in his brief tenure last season. Jesse Marsch edges slightly higher at 1.03 points per game, while Peter Reid (1.05) and Terry Venables (1.13) also struggled to make a big impact in their stints.

At the other end of the spectrum, David O’Leary leads the way with an impressive 1.79 points per game, ahead of Howard Wilkinson (1.44) and George Graham (1.40). When combining his time at Norwich City and Leeds, Farke’s Premier League win percentage sits at just 14.48%. Across 61 matches, he has won only nine, lost 42 and conceded a huge 123 goals – over two per game on average. Remarkably, that means Farke also owns the lowest points-per-game record of any manager in Premier League history to have taken charge of 50 or more matches, a statistic that will no doubt make uncomfortable reading for Leeds fans hoping for better fortunes ahead.

Low? Would we really go for someone who's been the assistant or an interim to date? Though he does seem to be doing ok at Leipzig, being 2nd in the league.

    Afternoon all

As fans we find the will he be sacked saga unsettling so I would imagine it's much worse for the players, get on with it 49ers or come out and state he is here for the long haul

Trouble with that is if he loses next 2 home games with poor performance/heavy defeats the fan anger would be even greater after such a statement.
