We have an unbelievable record against this mob, both home and away. We have lost only 10 in 36 games from the 92/93 season, I have used this guide as they were the opponents for the first game back in SE7. If ever there is a game that we need to continue this run then this is it. A nervy 1-0 win.
This match comes just one day after our 33rd year back at The Valley. Funnily enough, we have the same opponents as we had on that wondrous 1992 day. So, I reckon another tight 1-0 win for us. COYA!
33 years and one day - excellent historical point. And the perfect time to turn things around. If I recall we had a chance to do the same on the 25th anniversary back in 2017, but we could not get the result then. Perhaps this time destiny will be with us.
Pompey and Boro at home. Six points are imperative if we are to enter the Christmas period in good spirits. An extension of this losing run would be catastrophic, especially as the likes of Oxford, Sheff Utd and Norwich are now winning. Let's not get sucked into the relegation zone. Face the facts, we are not great, but I still think we are better than at least three teams in the division.
I could accept a battling defeat against Boro if we can defeat Portsmouth - though I think we are capable of getting a point on Tuesday 9th December. I might try to get to the Middlesbrough game. It'll be my first midweek visit to the Valley in four or five years I think. The travelling across London from my current HQ in the West (Brentford territory) is no joke these days on a weekday afternoon / evening.
