I'm sorry that I put you in that position. I should have dealt with what was going on here, and not bothered you with it. I can't even ask for a second chance, because I've already had that - after a very similar situation back in March of this year. If you'd be willing to grant me a third chance I would be grateful. I understand where I went wrong this time, and I will be on my guard against repeating that mistake. However, if the feeling is that someone else can look after this forum, or that it does not require a steward at this time, of course that is understood. We've caused more headaches than a community of our size should, and I'm at fault for a big slice of that.
I'd just play the 'you've misinterpreted my meaning' card. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
We all make mistakes mate, me included, it's no big deal. Given you your tools back, I think you are beginning to understand how I roll.
Many thanks again to @brb I would like to think I have learned from the mistakes I made during the last few weeks. I accept that I over-stepped the mark when I locked Royston's thread about Paul Elliott. A legitimate subject was closed down by me, which was wrong. Going forward, while the responsibility for caretaking here is mine I feel there should be no local rules imposed here. I accept this was the position of @Dick Plumb1 as well, so effectively nothing has changed. Any subject which a member wishes to discuss should be open for debate. Anyone should be able to begin a thread if they wish, without concern that it will be interfered with. Whether the subject be Charlton Athletic, Football in general, sport, news, politics, leisure... anything. (the old 'one thread only for politics' rule has gone for good). As has been pointed out many times, we are all adults. Our common bond is a love for CAFC but we are all free thinking individuals with things in life we care passionately about. It was never my job or my right to try to restrict the expression of those cares, and I was wrong to do so. All I would ask is please try not to let disagreements in debates become personal. Some subjects are very emotive. But we should all be able to differ - sometimes radically - without losing respect for each other as people. I will try my best to always remember that. I hope I can retain, or regain, or gain anew, the trust of members here. My past mistakes were made only with the intention of protecting this forum. I hope I won't make new mistakes, or repeat my old ones, even with the same intentions.
You are the archetypal Renaissance Man, Lardi. Good for you in taking on the mod job once more. You'll do just fine. I like to think the likes of FHB and Vol (Royston) will, in time, return to the forum. Getting the membership numbers increased would be great. I'll see if I can push a few fellow Addicks towards our little group. t's a shame Dicky moved on, as I always found him to be pleasant, erudite and extremely knowledgeable on Charlton-related matters. I wish him a Merry Christmas wherever he may be. Anyway, here's to a period of relative calm.
There's more mods than Brighton in the 1960's on here! The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
