Well she hasn’t knocked £400 billion off all our pensions so there’s a start.

Taxing wealthy farmers is fine by me unless you like wayching Jeremy Clarkson bubbling on like a self interested twat.

I can see both parts of the argument but ultimately you must be a bit of a twat if you want kids to go hungry.

Onto a more general point, I had some involvement in Sure Start centres which were doing a great job in working with low income families and tackling some of the issues you are highlighting, sadly the Tory government in their wisdom scrapped the funding in 2010 and I’d wager that decision has cost the country a hell of a lot more in the long term.

No doubt if this government weren’t trying to drag kids out of child poverty the right on here would be saying they were useless as well. Given the rotten right wing media in this country, whatever this government it’s going to be trashed. Perhaps som need to wake up?

Go and have a look at the Boris thread. Plenty of just critcism of thr tories there.

This is now about Labour with a huge majority to achieve whatever they think is beneficial. A quarter of their way through their term they have done very little of substance, at least in the plus box. All we hear is how the tories left a mess. We all know that. What we dont know is what is the labour plan.

Right now it appears to me Labour are making the tory mess worse. This weeks budget gets worse the more I read. 2 budgets now and we appear completely rudderless as a country. My worry is for my kids and their kids. We are leaving a real mess for them to clear up.

They certainly can’t make it much worse, you must have a very short memory. Record nhs waiting lists, record crime, record rise in foodbanks, record child poverty, prisons overflowing and the clusterfck of Brexit and Covid.

The issue is, mainly down to Brexit, is we have an economy that is not generating the funds to massively improve things. As a country we need to balance the books given the deficit massively increased under the Tories and we we all need to pay a bit more tax to do that and income tax is probably the fairest way. Thanks to our right wing media if the Labour Party put that in a manifesto it would never ever get elected.

The challenge is getting the economy to generate funds.

Il happily be called a gormless twat if I don’t want to see kids go hungry. For the record I didn’t call you a twat but if anyone is happy for kids to go hungry in my opinion they are. So if the cap fits….

Ad I have said we need to look at the underlying reasons why we have the issues we have in relation to people having more children they can provide for. I think more cross party debate and cooperation if needs be.

However, in the short term, anyone who is happy to see kids go hungry (through no fault of their own) really needs to look at themselves as we have truly created a disgusting society if this becomes the norm. If a millionaire farmer or someone in a £2.5m + house has to pay a bit more tax to feed hungry kids I can live with that till we can properly get on top of the problem.

As aside go and read Entitled and see how much money is wasted on the biggest disfunctional family of them all.
