I don't think that the officials have much choice, unfortunately. Gueye intentionally strikes Keane in the face. His post-card reaction is ludicrous, too. It's a violent conduct red too, so he'll be banned for 3 games. Newcastle, Bournemouth and Forest.
There is ambiguity however. It is a subjective decision for the officials as to whether the action is significant (or words to that effect, I found the text the other day but for the life of me can't find it now!). Just remember thinking at the time that there was no way Gueyes reaction would hit the threshold. But then I realised the opponents were wearing red....
Villa v Young Boys kicked off at 5.45pm at Villa Park. That's not an appropriate time for a midweek game in England.
Bloke I work with is a Villa season ticket holder and had to take the afternoon off to get there. Bloody stupid time.
I wonder if the violence from Young Boys was anticipated and starting earlier might reduce alcohol consumption
