McLaren have released a statement regarding their disqualification, there’s different bits in these two articles https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/articles/clydvx3w248o https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/...g-the-disqualification-in-las-vegas/10780029/ It’s worth reading in full, but I found two bits interesting. Clearly McLaren weren’t trying to break the rules, but the coded radio messages, suggested that once they realised they might, they were trying to get away with it. That’s a totally reasonable approach to take, but it does rather take away from the overall “it’s all a bit harsh on us” message. Not sure I’m particularly keen on this, I quite like how the dimensional rules, that can be absolute are absolute. Williams have suffered from this a couple of times in the last couple of years and whilst I wish they hadn’t, I prefer it to the alternative. Seems like I’m not the only one who’s wondering if this is PR, will be interesting to see if the FIA respond.
