Don’t disagree but unfortunately the fact people have to wait 6 months if not more before a court date just shows the backlog and better to get things moving quicker if they can.
I understand the problem, I just don't think it's the correct solution. I’m no expert, but I think I'd prefer the inquisitorial system over the adversarial one. Trying to get someone punished for something they might not have done, or trying to get someone off when you're fairly sure they're guilty are both immoral positions, in my view. The courts should be working to find the truth, and justice shouldn't be dependent on the argumentation skills of one side over the other.
Well, the punishment is a range rather than set so the bigger ****s can be more severely punished regardless of plea. Just means they won't get the full force. I don't think punishments are severe enough in this country though. They're supposed to be a deterrent but most see it is a holiday home nowadays.
