It’s the final pass that’s poor. We should have been home and hosed at HT. Bruno and Tonali particularly to blame.

The only reason I can think is Botman is still struggling with the injury, but he’s a better player than Burn hands down even half fit. I like BDB but there’s no way hes ahead of a fit Botman. My only worry with Sven is his fitness issues.

Botman is the future hopefully but still doesn’t look near his best. Burn isn’t a LB but is a good CB.

Pope does really well at a lot of things but at top level one mistake costs you dear and he has too many in him sadly. Ramsdale needs a run although not convinced yet that he’s the answer. Bruno and Tonali capable of far more than tonight. Would have subbed Tonali. Gordon isn’t a CF but with Wissa and Osula both injured if Big Nick rested what’s the options? Elanga worrying, want the lad to do well but is just terrible at the moment. Thought Miley and Ramsay did well tonight. Murphy poor tonight. Should be an emergency only option at Wing back although again injuries not helping. Hall should probably have started but understand taking it easy with him.

Well, I think Howe has a real problem here. This season, we cant get any run of consistency. He needs his team to beat Everton at the weekend. If we lose again, then we threw this game for no reason.

Pope needs to be dropped. He needs to keep Hall and Livarmento on the pitch now, sub them off if the game is won.

He also needs to be proactive - every time we see the game getting away from us and every time he sits until the 60-70 min before making a change.

Every time, away from home, we go into the lead and we then sit back and try to eke it out. We cant do that, we cant retain the ball, we need to attack to get the 2nd and possibly 3rd.

Gordon up top doesnt work....... just stop doing it.

Learn from the past for god sake Howe, I dont want you to screw this up but you are starting too.

Surprisingly Joe Cole got it bang on tonight “the issue with Newcastle is the very best is so far away from the very worst” for example.. if this season Arsenal play at their best they’ll win by 3/4.. if they play **** they’ll scrape a 1-0 or at the very least draw.

if we play at our best we’ll win 2-0, at our worst we get humped by **** teams.

Not sure whether Ramsdale is the answer but we won’t get to the places we want to with Pope. Modern football means a modern goalkeeper. The lad can’t kick, this is football.

Love seeing us at these class European stadiums though.
